Just wondering what folks think are the odds that someone on the current roster gets traded this weekend. Heard one rumor that Greg Ellis was being shopped and we're always trying to push Carpenter onto Big Bill. I think theres a 70% chance someone gets traded.

I think there is a very good chance Ellis gets traded but I'm on the fence on Carp. I'd still hold some hope he will turn in to a player for us. Unless someone just gives us a no brainer deal for him.

I'm sure both of them will be shopped, and maybe even Crayton if we can get the WR they want.

Your comment about Carpenter above though is wrong, Parcells wanted Carpenter last yr and Jones said no, and we gave them Ayodele instead.

We're pretty thin at ILB, if Carpenter is traded they have to have somebody ready to step in.

When I mentioned "we're" I was talking about folks on this board, not the Cowboys brass or Dolphins brass.

I think Ellis will be traded for sure, but it may simply be in an outright release if no trade partner can be found. Crayton could be if we get one of the 3 WRs we seem to covet. No way on Carpenter being traded. I know that will ruffle a lot of feathers.

5% chance for trade.

Jerry said yesterday trading a player is a bad decision because players are worth the least during draft day and picks are worth the most. You would be reaching and getting a really bad deal.

Now if we traded a player away to save face instead of cutting them and getting something instead of nothing, I can see that. So 5%.

I'd say there are fair odds that Choice could be very quietly on the block, but I'm not sure Ellis or Carpenter really have a market. Most teams probably suspect that one or both of them will be odd men out for the 53-man roster, so the incentive to put up any consideration for them is limited, unless it's a 7 to keep them off the market.

Other than that, I can't really see much on our roster that would interest anyone. Maybe someone truly desperate would part with a 7 for Free or McQuistan...but it seems unlikely.

I can see Ellis being traded cause they're ready to really give the reigns to Spencer.

The thing here is that if either Ellis, Carp, or both are traded this weekend then they're going to have to use a couple of picks, maybe 3 or 4, on linebackers to give this team some depth back at the position.

I'm not saying I'm opposed to that, either, but it means we'll be looking pretty heavy at Linebacker, for certain, if we got rid of either, or both, of those guys.

is this some inside sources that you know about hostile?
i too think some players will be traded, with greg ellis being one of them,
also i feel if cowboys can get a wr like thomas or knox they will trade crayton too
i also think that pat mcquistan will be traded too

like you though, unless the cowboys get a sidbury or jason williams that is a very good coverage linebacker in the draft, i dont see the cowboys trading bobby carpenter either, because you dont have anyone on your team that can cover in passing downs like burnett did besides carpenter

Barbie Carpenter cant be traded, it would be nice but lets get real. Ellis will retire a Cowboy... lets not forget he is Jerrys best draft pick, EVER!

I bet we're waiting to see what happens in the draft with Ellis. If things fall totally wrong and the OLBs we like get taken before we get a chance, maybe we hold on to him. But I think he's gone if we get someone we like.

Maybe even the same with Carpenter.

At least Ellis can still play some. Carp, I'd dump for a ham sammich.

I'd really rather not move Crayton. I know lots of people seem to hate him but I like the guy and I'd like to see him stick around.

That's what I'm thinking.

I think the plan is to look for an OLB-type in round 3 and if they get one - say Sidbury or Veikune - they'll look to move Ellis.

If the cupboard's bare, they'll draft one later and keep Ellis as insurance for one more season.

If they get a decent offer, I could see them moving Crayton.

I think a team like the Vikings could really use a guy like him.

Do you think Ellis will go before or during the draft?

So, did he admit that trading Fasano/Akin last year for a 4th was a bad move? I don't believe anything Jerry says until after the fact.

I don't believe any GM or owner until after the fact.

Ellis is as good as gone IMO. They already have multiple low round picks which is all Carp would bring.

Say it ain't so...

Ellis being the best draft pick ever for Jerry is the saddest thing I have read all day... :(
