What are the thoughts on resigning Leary, Mo, Church, T Crawford and T Will?

I don't agree with winning without Dez...he is the WR1 that makes everything work......Beaz is the slot and Witten is ageless....not many balls left for WR3-5

Ya that's kinda how I meant. No point in having a WR2 that can't be a 1. BUT, if you get a guy who you think may be able to turn into a 1 or a 1.5 in the 2-3 round, then having that "Dez effect" in case Dez misses time, is invaluable.

More than anything, I wanna resign Mo. He looked like a shut down CB. He made that high draft pick worth it this year while he was healthy. With a defense in need of good players, I don't wanna see what we developed walk away.

Much depends on how we approach the salary cap after the season. A very good chance Martin will be extended with a new contract before or at the end of the season. Then it depends on how we approach the guys we intend to keep and those we are going to let test free agency. No matter what we think, it will be the Cowboys who have a better read on Leary and his worth to other teams and believe me the knee will factor into those dollars. Collins isn't going anywhere as he can man any of 4 positions although OG may be his best spot. Leary on the other hand is a OG period. If (and a big IF) Leary wants to stay and take a contract that we could live with then you could see the starting 5 be Smith, Leary, Frederick, Collins, Martin with Green and Free as the swings and Looney as the backup OG/OC. (Don't discount an OL as a high pick because the Cowboys will not discount it)

As to Church and Claiborne, I could see both resigned if they are willing to take team friendly contracts. If they don't then I could see both leaving. TWill's status is really about what he can garner on the open market. Finding a good to great WR in the draft in the first 3 rounds is pretty much a given this draft. Where we draft is only a guess at this point and will be for another 9 weeks or so, plus the fact do we really know who the top 32 guys are in the draft and who will go where, we don't but we do know the Cowboys will take whoever is sitting on their board at the top spot for them at the time they draft.

Many things will come into focus once the season is over once Tony Romo decides if he is going to play another year or retire after June 1st. Remember he can announce that he is going to retire anytime and make it effected on June 2nd. Would save the Cowboys roughly $12 million for 2017. Plus no one knows what the cap will be next year although speculation is $166 million.

Now where would I like the Cowboys to go in the draft, my bet WR (1 or 2) guy, DE (1 or 2 or 3) guy, and CB/S guy. Frankly if we could trade up in the 1st and get a Jonathan Allen or Myles Garrett or Malik McDowell then I would do it.

Some tough decisions will have to be made but Crawford and T Will will probably be gone unless they want to come back dirt cheap, if they can get a better offer they should take it.

Happy Victory Monday I was curious we got some decisions to make in the off season and no I'm not talking Romo has anyone heard rather it be on the Break Talking Cowboys 1310 the ticket or any other outlet what is the thoughts on resigning Leary, Mo, Church, T Crawford and T Will. I know we can't sign everyone but what is the word on these players Thanks in advance

I think you can let them all walk and be fine.

I could see Crawford as a potential cut depending on how much guarenteed money he is still owed. Not a 9 million a year player and he may not even be a starter next year.

I see us resigning Mo, Williams and Wilcox

His knee is not the ticking time bomb some make it out to be. The degenerative part of his knee condition is likely only going to trigger with an injury.
It will still likely keep his contract lower than it would be otherwise. I just don't know how much lower.

So IF Dak is the starter next year what do we do with Romo's contract?
Trade Romo. It would be insane to keep him with his contract if he is the backup. If Sam Bradford can fetch a 1st round pick, then Romo should have some value.

I think it depends on where we finish.

If we finish with our record at 12-4 or so..

We are not going to have a very good pick to replace those guys.

And we still need DL badly with Gregory out.

So I think Romo is going to have to rework his deal if he wants to stay so we can resign some of these guys as we can't just scoup up 4-6 guys whom we need.

If Romo stays..I think he is going to want to compete as a starter next year and that might be OK..

If he loses and remains the backup..

then I think he gets traded before TC is over.

That's best case scenario.. but 1. I don't think Romo wants to play for another team. 2. Jerry doesn't want him to play for another team. 3. no team is going to trade anything of worth for a older, broke back Qb. Who hasn't played in 2 years. My opinion

Teams do wacky things when it comes to trying to get a QB. I wouldn't bet money that a team will trade for him, but I definitely think it is possible. Who would have ever guessed that a team would trade a 1st for Sam Bradford. Bradford has been injured about as much as Romo and is not that good when healthy. At least a team would know that Romo would likely be good if he did stay healthy. It could be a conditional trade based on Romo staying healthy.

14 million is just too much for a backup QB.

I think you could get a second rounder for Romo. O could see the Jets doing that as a bridge to Hackenberger

Right now you are correct, ceiling is much higher on collins. Leary is pretty much at his apex

Yep...he's playing at an All-Pro level. That's what you want, isn't it?

The line took off when Leary got the start.

I feel we can replace twill with a 2nd or 3rd rounder in the draft... hes not that dynamic that we can't replace him
Of course we can but thats not the point. By resigning TWill you can save that draft pick to make your team better. We still have holes to fill. Especially on defense in particular on improving the pass rush, safety and CB positions next year.
