not making a single NFC Championship game in 21 years = not really a championship run.
I didn't say it was. But it's not really relevant to the topic at hand, anyway.

We are into his second offseason as Director of Pro Personel. How do you feel he has done so far?
The reality is, we don't have the visibility to know who's responsible for which decisions, anyway. And we can't really trust what's reported. Everyone wants credit after the fact, and hindsight is 20/20. All we can really do fairly is judge the whole front office collectively.
And I still think we do a good job scouting these days, overall.
" Line in the sand" may have been a poor/incomplete example. There is a " line in the sand" section of fanbases who fall pray to either fanboy or hater group think. Where you tend to either wholly trust or dismiss the actions of the people in charge depending on which side the line we fall on. People that dont fall into this are often grouped with one side by the otherI disagree. I think we try to create patterns from the variety of opinions because we're comfortable with lines in sand and the spectrum of actual collective opinions is difficult to work with conceptually.
For example, no matter how hard I bash our defensive performance and our decisions under Garrett re the defensive staff, I'm lumped in as a guy who never says anything bad about the team. It's not because of my position on the team. It's because most of the time when I post, I'm defending the team against what I think is a crazy criticism.
The reality has always been that there's been a variety of opinions on both McClay and Ciskowsky.
These idiots couldn't close a real deal if their lives depended on it.
I think he's the Rod Marinelli of personnel acquisition.
Yes, they can. Case in point, Collins.
But things have to break right. On a playing field with peers, their own self-induced handicaps come into play.
That wasn't these idiots. That was Jerry.
Those desions are layered though. The front office makes a desion based on the information the scouts give them.
For McClay. Two things stand out on both sides of fense.
On the good side he has done a solid job of finding players on the scarpheap. Mincey and Crawford were both solid values and/finds and we more production out of McFadden then the Saints did out of their signings in Ingram and Spiller combined. His forte was always pro scouting
On the bad side his department hasnt done well in portions of the draft where scouts really come through for you. The mid to late portions. We have gotten very few usuable players in that portion of the draft ( including UDFA) over the last couple of years. The 2014 7th round really stands out for me as we added players that really didnt fit the scheme we were trying to install with a box safety, a 5 Tech and a 2 gap DT with little quickness. They really need to improve there efforts scouting the mid to late portions of the draft, because while your hit rate is low, between 4 and 7 you really want to find at least 2 guys who are going to finish there rookie deal IMO
Oh. I thought we were talking our idiot collective.
If you believe what we are told, that idiot hive is responsible for all decisions via group decision.
What we are witnessing right now is the Stephen Jones effecr. Thus far, I don't like it... Jerry is a schmoozer. Stephen sees things in black & white. He is incapable of shmoozing.
Stephen may see things in black and white, but he does not seem any more football savvy than his father.
So McClay controls contracts and salaries?
Tell me more.
What Are Your Thoughts On Will McClay?
Are you happy with Zack Martin or do you wish we had drafted JF?

The team has done well in the first round the last few seasons. They need to improve in the later rounds. I think McClay has improved the team's scouting overall, Garrett as well.
