What changes will the Cowboys make to beat Philly?

Offensively, our line must win the point of attack and allow our running game to control the pace of the game. I don't think we win that game with 40 pass attempts, and I don't think we win with the running game neutralized.

Philly is best at speeding up the game, while we're best at slowing it down. We'll see if our talent and style of play are good enough.

Yes. Ball control. Win TOP.

It's all about the defense kicking it up a notch and playing better. They have to bring their A-game. Well, we all know their A-game isn't much, but it's gotta be better than the crap we saw during Thanksgiving and the 2nd half of the Bears game....

Their defense has played more downs that anyone. I'm not suggesting 70 plus plays but keep away/time of possession is key. I know it's boring and predictable but we need to run. We also have to run quicker routes to exploit man coverage when they bring extras. Slants and quick WR screens. Witten needs time to get open so I'd try box out patterns to Escobar(6-6/260 vs Kendricks 5-11) or try to get Hanna in mismatches like Clay Matthews. Punish their aggression, screens to Murray, Dunbar, and Randle will help too.

As for our defense, Marinelli has had 10 days to focus on them. Hopefully, we have some different coverage looks and some new blitz packages. I'd even consider two 3-Tech's (Melton and Crawford, maybe Mincey) to find ways to get pressure on Sanchez like he saw today. Demarcus Lawrence couldn't pick a better game to make an impact.

I'm hoping to see us prepared, flying to the ball, and playing up to the significance of this game. If we can't/don't, I really think the team should end the Garrett experiment. That would be four years in a row that this team didn't show up in the biggest game of the year.

I think Garrett-Top punched his ticket for 2015 with that 9th win...

My suggestions....

On offense.....

1. Mix it up on first down. This stubborn idea of running the football on 1st down..... just didn't work the 1st time out because the Eagles knew we were coming. We have to @ least gotta give them the impression we are willing to throw it to keep them off balance.

2. More quick hitting passes. Slant passes...where have you gone?

On defense....

1. Gotta get out of this zone D. letting Sanchez pick us apart....I don't think I can sit through another episode of this. Thanksgiving was bad enough.

2. Gotta keep containment on the QB on the QB/RB stretch option run. Defensive ends Spencer and Selvie really got sucked in on those.

3. Gotta bring more heat from the blitz. I expect to see Scandrick have a huge game coming out of the slot on the blitz. Seahawks exposed this today...they are vulnerable there.

4. Stop the run game. I think having Brent this game is gonna be huge. McClain got abused last time out. They are not gonna push Brent around.

Will be interesting to see how this game will be refereed. Eagles always seemed to get the crucial calls or "no calls". Hard to beat 2 teams when they are both against you...If you know what I mean.o_O

Wow. This is just about exactly my list.

Quick developing passes over the middle expose those LBs. Stopping the run, especially having better containment to the outside and better tackling overall. Tony needs to play a lot better, too. We weren't really burned badly on ST the first time around, and not letting that happen again would be a plus.

Good thread idea, by the way.

Pass rush...............if you get some hits on Sanchez, he will get shaky and throw some picks..................if you let him stand in the pocket and order a cup of tea while he reads the paper, its going to be a long night.

Defense:

Hold the gaps and make McCoy feel every yard. Press corners and send some DB blitzes as well. Patmon should be back this week so I wouldn't mind seeing Scandrick in the backfield. In fact on the first play I'd send him in on a blitz.

Offense:

We need to continue our run first attack and give our line a shot at redemption. We need to use more qk screens and continue to look for Beasley.

Overall we need to go out and fight for everything. With over a week of rest we should tighten up some of our mistakes from Thanksgiving.

Nice summary. This one gives us an opportunity to finally win an " important game" in December for the first time in a very long time. Go Cowboys

ready for what?

if he was not ready on thanksgiving at home in a crucial division game....what makes you think he will be ready sunday?

What does the Thanxsgiving game have to do with the next game? Unless the players are following a script as actors do.

On defense, it would sure be nice to have Lee and Durant for this one. It seems like every year about this time we're down two or three starting linebackers. The Seahawks were assignment sound and sure tackling on defense. If the Eagles tried their short crossing routes there was a LB right there making the tackle for no yards after the catch. When McCoy motioned outside for a screen there was a guy blanketing him so Sanchez had to throw it away. That's the way we looked last year and we need to get back to that.

On offense I think they need to keep them off balance. It's time to call some of those plays they haven't shown before like that shovel pass to Witten against the Giants and that misdirection quick pitch. They will probably be trying to take away Dez and Witten so there needs to be some packages for Dunbar, Beasley, and Escobar. It seems like every time Escobar catches the ball it's either a first down or touchdown. And of course they need to impose the running game on the Eagles front seven. Their defense was on the field a lot yesterday and they looked gassed. It's not a quick turnaround like Thanksgiving but hopefully when we play them they'll still have a hangover from the Seahawks game.

quite simply the offensive line and the defensive line have to go out and get their manhood back, I believe everything else will take care of itself. This time next week I'll be diddy boppin into the office in all my glory

Perhaps it would behoove them to fake an injury or two on Defense in an effort to slow the game down, take a breather. Seattle did it all day yesterday.

Good coaching would help as well. Richard Sherman said their Offense is very basic. Once they saw the indicators, they knew what the plays were going to be.

Our D looked confused, puzzled and stupified.

Be more physical at the LOC. The Eagles pushed Dallas around last game.

Stop McCoy.

Run the ball but challenge their secondary.

Play smarter than last time

It all really comes down to how Romo is feeling that day. Also, our offensive line must perform at it's best for the sake of the pass and rushing game to be effective. The defense must tackle better and create as many turn overs as possible.

I would expect to see more man coverage defensively.

Offensively im guessing you'll see more of the same.. Hopefully it doesn't come down to our passing game.

If it does maybe we'll see the Cowboys actually attempt to not be so shockingly bland.

Magically heal Sean Lee and Durant. Stop playing Zone coverage. Zone works only if you can actually generate pressure on the QB. Since we cannot, it'd be better to man up and leave a MLB or Safety in zone, which allows more time for your weak front 4 to get to the QB. Oh, score more than 10 points. That will help.
