Odd how the Cowboys have their best seasons when expectations are at their lowest and they have their worst seasons when expectations are at their highest. That's been the trend the past decade. The only bad thing about this season is it will lead to very high expectations next year. Oh no! lol

Romo had won 16 out his last 20 games.. About the only thing to question about him was his health.
Big damn question, and with bad health comes bad play at times. Tony has had some stinkers when it comes to turnovers.

When...

Romo went down.
K. Moore went down.
Rookie Dak thrown in the fire.
D. Law/R. Gregory suspension

I honestly expected a repeat of last year, but now it's just surreal. BUT A lot of football ahead of us...
Superbowl.

I was not a fan of Dak at draft time, but I knew we had to get a QB this year because there are no QB prospects in this next year's draft, (there may not be a first round QB selected since 1996).

When Dak started that first pre-season game, and showed pretty well, I thought it was a mirage. He kept it up the next game, then Tony gets hurt on his 3rd play against Seattle. I thought 9-7/10-6 with Tony lasting all year was the best we could do because they did nothing to improve the defensive pass rush.

When Dak started playing better and better as the year started, I became Dak's biggest fan. I still love Tony, but Dak and Zeke have re-energized my fandom for this team. I am really enjoying the ride and expect more of these seasons in the years to come.

I honestly knew that Dak was going to be good just didn't know he would be great especially this early. I thought Dak would get us to 4-2 and Romo would come back and take us to 12-4. At 12-4 we win the division and get a first round bye but not home field (however at this point it looks like that would have gotten us home field). I thought all of this would happen mainly because of Zekes impact. I knew it was going to be like 2014 but better as I don't think Zeke will wear down late in the season like DeMarco. And yes, Murray did wear down late in the year and if not for him looking sluggish at the end and not having that burst that Zeke has he would have taken that fumble against GB to the house and we would never of had the "it was a catch" BS. I honestly felt like This would be Romos year to win a SB.

You can check my post history to fact check but I expected a great season. Preseason or not, I watched Dak and what he showed in preseason was a continuation of what he did in college; only with a significantly better supporting cast. The moment I found out I said, "I'm not worried... have you seen this kid Dak play?" Vanilla or not, Dak protected the football, made good decisions and moved the football at will, especially when they needed it most. And the regular season has been largely a continuation of what we saw then.

But I didn't expect the Cowboys to be the best team in the league and I predicted their defense would be their undoing in the playoffs.

With a healthy Claiborne, I'm not as worried...but admittedly still concerned.

The good news is with another smart offseason and luck with Jaylon Smith, the Cowboys could take over in 2017.

Best and most optimistic scenario I saw us going 8-8 or 7-9 and that's after watching the preseason and seeing Dak play. But going into game 1 vs the Giants I expected to see an 7-9 or 8-8 team at best, but I was preparing myself for a 4-12 or 3-13 season again. I knew Dak has skills but I thought that this would be more of a learning by fire type season for him and then next year he would take over fully. I thought Dak would play like a rookie that was drafted in the 4th round, kind of like a developmental guy. We'd then rush Romo back, he'd get hurt again and rinse wash repeat of last season.

No way in my wildest dreams did I think Dak would be leading the league on QBR over the likes of Tom Brady and Rogers, brees, Ryan, etc. And 100% no way did I think we'd be in the playoffs this year. The fact that we're in the playoffs this year with 4 games remaining in still unbelievable to me. The fact that Dak is playing like a 10 year pro and he won in Green Bay (only the 2nd time in 50 some years we won there) and beat Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh still blows my mind. The fact that we are considered a super bowl contender again just blows my mind. I can't remember a season that I had this much fun.

But to answer the original question in my heart I thought 8-8 at the very best if everything went right but in my rational mind after watching last year I think 3-13, just being completely honest.

I didn't expect this, 8-8 maybe and that was before Romo went down again.

Just enjoying the ride, everything from here on out is gravy for me.

get into the playoffs
never expected 11-1 though but I knew if they played dak, and kept playing him
they would make the playoffs.
That said if tony didnt get hurt, I would have expected same thing.

I also didnt expect the other top teams to have off year either. in the nfc I mean.
Only seattle is maintaining and they have been off too.

When Romo was healthy, I expected 8-8.

When he went down, I thought that Dak would perform well enough to at least keep the ship afloat until Romo got back. I figured there would be talk of the Cowboys maybe having something in Dak and that he could potentially be the next QB for the Cowboys. I did not expect him to keep the kob and perform as well as he has. I kind of thought he would become our version of Kirk Cousins...a guy who showed flashes of talent but was behind someone who was cemented into the starting role.

My answer is a little different. I nagging part of me got really super excited for Dak when I saw him vs the Rams pre-season. So much so that I began envisioning the season with him. It was unrealistic but the thought was there. Against Mia, Romo starting was somewhat un-interesting. I just wanted to see what Dak was going to do. Of course I'm a big fan of Romo but I couldn't stop thinking about Dak. Kind of a weird place. When Romo went down, I thought it was meant to be although I hated to see Romo go down. I honestly had big hopes for the season but I never saw this. I thought Dak just "fit" and it was just destiny that a change take place. I felt like the team was in sort of a malaise and these events plus a good draft would be a shot in the arm. Maybe 10-6... never saw this type of start.

After Romo went down in the pre-season, I didn't have any expectations for this team at that point.

Just watch the games. See what happens.
