FWIW...I'm sure AZ would love that trade. Fits a huge hole for them and gets rid of a headache.

Both probowlers - the backfield is crowded now with 3 backs - just throwing it out there to get some opinions.

Barber and Jones were both injured last year. We all knew Barber couldn't take the punishment of his running style if he was a full time player. Jones isn't going to be able to take the punishment either. Both are situational RBs. Choice is the only back the Cowboys have that could carry the load by himself. I'd like to see all three active each week, and reduce the number of wideouts that are active.

Do you guys realize we will have to sign Boldin to a new contract? Just how much money should we tangle up in the WR position?

You would eat too much cap after Barber's signing bonus accellerates on the cap and then signing Boldin to a new contract. And like Hos mentioned, you would be better off trading up for Hakeem Nicks.

I don't think we would get Boldin for Barber alone. But even if we had to give up another third i would do it in a heartbeat. Even for another 2nd, hmm i think i'd still do it...

Boldin is 29 years old, and he isn't a deep threat. He is going to cost you major jack. Dallas already has the younger Roy Williams. They can draft a version of Boldin or better.

No thanks.

I'd rather have Marion Barber.

Everyone so willing to trade him should watch the Bucs, Packers, and second Commanders games last year.

They should watch the Giants playoff game, too.

Barber got his foot stepped on. It was a fluke injury. It could happen to anyone.

No way the Cards would ever do a deal like that. I have to agree with Bear. However, if they did, I would be all over it.

Barber is not going to last. I would be surprised if he has 3 more good seasons in him. He just takes too much punishment. In less then three years, we are going to have to move one of these backs because we can not keep them all. That probably means that we do not get nearly the value we should get for whichever back leaves. I would make that trade if it were available but I don't believe it ever would be.

If the Cards offered Boldin for Barber straight up we'd be stupid not to accept

Not this year, or the next year - but Barber will most likely end his career in another uniform. Nothing against him, but his running style, his contract, and he will be very appealing out there for a team. We'd be best to get what we can for him while we can, especially given what Choice and Felix displayed last year.

Nothing against him, I love him as a player and person - I just know how this movie ends and I think we shouldn't rule out dealing him. Especially if a team comes knocking with a couple of high picks somewhere down the road (two years to specify).

Vela has a good article up about Williams and Boldin.

Boldin's deep opportunities have been on the decline. Larry Fitzgerald has become the primary deep target. Boldin has been used to attack linebackers and safeties recently. In 2006, Roy Williams torched people deep.

Williams is younger and the better deep target. I expect him to trim down some like Fitzgerald did last year.

Boldin is 29. Paying him big money when you have Jason Witten, Martellus Bennett, and Felix Jones would be a bad move.

The Cowboys are about to draft a WR.

Heyseus, on this board too?

Do people with these ridiculous trade proposals even know how to spell "salary cap"? :bang2:

We're not trading for Anquan Boldin. Might as well get over it.

NO!

First off there is this thing known as the cap. You've heard of it right OP? It would kick the crap out of us to trade Barber cause of the huge deal he signed.

So, no, he's not an option.

#2...Boldin isn't coming here. It's not happening.

THIS.

Anyone who even thinks this a good idea or a probable outcome are ignorant.

I think we should look into trading Barber while he still has some value, and before he gets too beat up.

The time to trade him was last yr before he signed this mega deal. Nobody is trading for him now for anything of value to us because of that, and his 2008 was a disappointment on top of the big contract.
