What do you think of 2 bye weeks?

Today, George Kittle brought up the need for 2 bye weeks in a season for player safety.

I like that idea. 17 games is a long season and if the season goes to 18 games they 100% should.

Plus it extends the regular season for an extra week.

Not sure why the league would be opposed to this. It would result in more prime time games which is where they make their most money and helps players health.

I don't remember that. But I guess it was because there was a few weeks with a lot less games than usual.

Probably happen at some point. When they go to 18 games (and they will) would likely be when they would add the second bye. League would then be able to extend the season till end of February which is something I am sure they would love to do.

I've got a better idea. Expand the rosters. Forget the extra bye week making the season even longer.

I am OK with 2 bye weeks as long as it does not interfere with your weekends of pleasure and domination.

I have no issue at all with it - as long as it’s attached to that 18-game season you mentioned. I have said the same thing myself numerous times. It gives the league a 20-week regular season to work with and gives the players a second test week. That’s a win-win in my book.

They did this back in the 90's one year and it extended the season another week, and gave me a better chance of seeing the boys on TV.

I remember they tried it for 1 year (1993) and got rid of it because they had too many weeks with poor late afternoon game choices. The idea at the time was by having an extra week of regular season games they could get more TV money. It would be worse now with the Thursday games.

Maybe they should just add a bye week once the season ends and all playoff teams get at least one week off before they begin.

The idea of two bye weeks in one NFL season isn't inconceivable. Did George Kittle forget the league gave teams two bye weeks in 1993 to extend the season for its new television deals & also because the league was "sensitive to the possible over-exposure of our sport," then-commissioner Paul Tagliabue said in 1990.

Maybe they should just add a bye week once the season ends and all playoff teams get at least one week off before they begin.
