What is Eberflus strength ?

Is he just a zone and no blitz guy?

That’s great if you have a bunch of all pro defense linemen I guess, but we don’t.

Being bullheaded. He is fantastic when it comes to that. He will stick to the soft zone nonsense play after play after play and game after game even when it has failed just about every snap. Have a DB group that were mostly all drafted as man guys,....PFFFFFFFT,....play zone anyway! Have a defense that played man 70% of the time for the last 5 years,.........pfffffffft play zone anyway! At a NINETY PERCENT clip I might add. Have your own db's literally BEG you to play at least SOME more man,.........nah,..were a zone team all the way baby,....nothing else matters! Talk about crazy!

His defensive coverage calls were always very basic.
Even before his last season went off the rails articles were showing how he would typically not blitz, except on certain downs and with the slot corner, but he was somehow fooling the offense by showing blitz but not blitzing on X down but then on Y down.

In Chicago, in 2023, he ran a lot of cover 2, which wasn't paying off. He switched to cover 3, which suited his players better.
But here, I just don't think primarily zone coverages suits our guys

He's a punt. 'Known' for player development he was given a Defense of five previous 1st Rd picks. All he had to do (probably in Jerry's mind) is use his knowledge of LB play to steady the whole Defense.......whilst the Offense and Dak are given the season to "show" and prove that 2026 is worth an ALL-IN push.
The question now is, with the Offense proven to a level, is Eberflus the right man to get the best out of this Defense, or give him the 'keys' to the 4 1st Rd picks in the forthcoming drafts.

You're right he's a passive DC, with an Backfield that wants to play aggressive ....and without the one Pass-rusher that could cause the errant passing game.
We need to work out whats worth salvaging from this roster into a 2026 and how we're going to play.

This man is clueless and needs to be fired immediately if not sooner. I have posted here before that the defense will be the Achilles heal for this team. Dallas is wasting a great opportunity the way Dak is playing this season. It's painfully obvious that he doesn't put the defensive personnel in positions and schemes to be successful and the cheery on top is that he doesn't make game time adjustments.
If Jerry wants to continue down this path, then just tank the season because that's what it feels like.
