What happened to the offense we saw vs Denver?

That's one play I always wondered why we never run.

Because we suck at running it. The last time I think we ran a successful screen pass was that one year where Felix was in NY and the lights turned out. Maybe that's a bit of a stretch but that's honestly the last one I remember we ran well.

Yeah that's the last time I remembered us running it also. With a player like Dunbar you have to throw that play in the mix.

They run it at times but for whatever reason i'm not sure if its because of the linemen or blocking but there's no room to do anything. We've done WR screens, half-back screens....you might even catch them throw a tight end screen which upsets me.....I can't call it. But one thing is for sure is this team has to do something because I Think the book on them since the Bronco's game is to just blitz us all game and you'll have a chance to win. We are asking too much of this defense to limit teams to 3 points just to win.

The eagles are the boxer that jabs you so much that you can rarely get off.

The cowboys vs broncos were two fighters throwing bombs at each other. Both wide open for big shots. Very little to no jabbing.

Two things.

Against Washington, Haslet decided to go for broke and blitz most every play. I'm confident Dallas would have made him pay, but the two big returns by Harris kind of made it a moot point and kept the offense on the sideline.

Against Philly, Dallas played the game on the field. They could have EASILY hit 24+ if needed, but it wasn't needed. They saw that the Philly offense was bottled up, and played smart field position. The wind was also very tricky, which gave both QBs issues and influenced Garrett to punt instead of trying 50-yard field goal.

Wow. You don't actually believe this crap do you?

we lost Murray and instead of facing 3rd and 2 or 3rd and 3 we ended up with a bunch of 3rd and 7 or 3rd and 8. We ended up punting way more without Murray. I have no stats whatsoever to support the previous statement and/or am too lazy to go fetch them. JMHO

I think part of the problem in Philly was the atrocious officiating. It's hard to sustain a drive when your receivers, particularly Dez, were being mugged.

How come no one is asking where is the DEFENSE we saw vs the Broncos? :)

From the movie "Gladiator"

Juba to Maximus: "you will meet them again, but not yet."

Me to you: "you will see that defense again, but not yet"... Maybe against Detroit

I don't care if we average 17 points a game for the rest of the season, if we're winning by 14+ points like the last two games then I'm not going to question the gameplan.

I don't think that was the case at all vs Philly. It came down to blitz pickups. We didn't handle their blitz in the first half. Blitzing directly led to three drives being stopped in the first half, including our two deepest drives into Philly territory. We scored three points.

We picked up the blitz much better the second half. Tony got hit hard once but generally had time to throw the entire second half. The result was two touchdown drives and another drive that would probably had us with first down at or inside the red zone if the Tanner-dragged-his-man interception hadn't happened. That was our first three drives in the second half. The last two drives were kill-the-clock three and outs.

That Philly game was all about the blitz pickup. Like you pointed out, we didn't have the special teams come to our rescue, but the offensive line/blitz pickups did come to our rescue in the second half.

yup, you hit the nail right on the head. Setting the protection and blitz pickup has been the problem for the cowboys. The issue isn't so much that there aren't enough blockers against the blitz, it's that the protection gets totally confused by disguised blitzes and the line never adjusts to where the extra rusher is coming from.

I really hate using the eagles site for reference, but they did an incredibly good job of highlighting this:

romo should conceivably have tons of time to scan the field and take shots if the protection can ever get this sorted out.

THIS.

Who care how many point we score as long as it's 1 point more than our opponents.

The 32nd ranked pass defense, who decided to line up man to man, has left the building.

Just as I predicted, Romo's offense has come back to the usual under 25ppg.

Denver's pass defense is dead last in the NFL. I expect more teams to light their secondary up as the season wears on. I also expect our secondary to improve from where we are ranked as well.
