What will the vibe be here? Will we forget he was drafted to be 3rd string and forced into the starting lineup?

Vibe here will be the same as always - Some declaring the Boys are bad and calling for Jerry's/Garrett's head and some predicting sunshine and rainbows next time for sure.

Personally, I'll be extremely disappointed if Dak stinks it up as I have true hope he really can be a very good QB in the future and even maybe in the immediate future. But while my overall enthusiasm for Prescott will have diminished to a somewhat more realistic level with a stinker game, I would still be optimistic the ship could be righted in future starts. Three stinkers in a row and I'll probably have lost all hope for him unfortunately, unfair or not.

Don't think it will happen that way though. I think Prescott will indeed make a few errors but overall will look much better than many are predicting, maybe even looking closer to Preseason Prescott than should be possible.

When the Cowboys put a 4th round comp pick out there to start against a major division rival in our first game, I'm certainly not going to blame the player if the whole thing is too big for him at this time. I would look elsewhere. :)

There will be lots of ranting and raving ( which I find very amusing - I likes) and a couple of told you so threads, 1-2 rookies take time to acclimate to the NFL threads, and 1 that's why he was picked in the 4th rd thread, and 1 " what's wrong w you people for getting down on Dak thread" - yawn.

If the vaunted defensive line sucks it up, you prolly get the same. I love the Zone cause there's always action

I can't imagine him facing much more than what Seattle threw at him.

The first half of that game atmosphere was every bit of a regular season game in my opinion.

Seattle did bring a lot, and the O line was very good at picking most of it up and Dak did the rest.

Spagnuolo is somewhat of a mad scientist type, will try a bunch of funky stuff. Back when the Giants won their last Super Bowl, they didn't have to trick things up too much, the pass rush was ferocious. Risky defense gives you the chance for big plays, I hope Dak will be up to it.

I think Dak is going to be a good QB !!!! Sure he is going to make mistakes but so do the QB's who have been playing over 10 years !!!!

This is a VERY good point and I've been saying this for a while now. I look at Cam Newton, he was just bad last night. You look at other vet QBs, and they have some big stinkers several times a year, so it won't be uncommon for a rookie 4th rounder to have a stinker. I'm just hoping we all rally around this QB and give him time.

Take the bad with the good, but in the long run I feel Dak can be a very good QB !!!!

For me, it'll just mean he's an inexperienced rookie just like Elway, Aikman, Peyton Manning and Bradshaw were when they started as rookies.

Which one of these is not like the other?

The names you list are all 1st round picks. Dak is a fourth. Putting him in that crowd is a bit of a reach.

Honestly, he really needs the whole team to play better around him than they did last season. Whether it was Beasley's ST drop in the Giants game, or Dez' drop in Tampa, or the holding calls calling back TD plays or the defense blowing a coverage in the fist play of OT. We had bad QBs, and we hung them out to dry. On top of the issues with Dez being out and defenses having an extra defender to take away Bease or Witten.

I'll be happy if Dak just looks composed and seems to be able to make the right reads. It's on the high-octane OL to beat this new Giants DL and make sure there are lanes to run through and to keep most of the pressure off the new QB. I can live with mistakes, and even losses early, as he takes his lumps.

Dak has some definite positives to help him when he goes out on the big stage Sunday, so he should be OK. Not every QB comes into the league with a great offensive line, a running back who is a top-notch blocker to pick up blitzes, a tight end who gets open on demand, and a top 5 receiver who will just go get the ball if it is in his general vicinity.
