That's my concern.

Otherwise, I'd prefer to wait until after the Draft.

True... I'm not sure enough that Spencer can do it and who else do we have right now. If we replace Ellis then let him go if not, keep him for another year. He is going to cry again but he still gives all he can on the field.

damn! I didn't realize he was gonna be 34. how much would we save if he's cut?

We'd save $5.25 million. The whole salary he's on the books for.

This shouldn't be up for debate. Ellis should be gone, and money would be freed up. A third rusher can be found in the draft or free agency.

Anthony Spencer has shown plenty to take that job, full time. You know what, he was getting pulled on third down. If you look closely at Ellis' season, he was MIA for huge chunks of it. His 8 sacks are deceptive. He isn't even close to the money he will cost this year. In fact, it's a joke. Most teams would cut him and completley clear the path for the number one draft pick and a younger third rusher.

He wants to rush every down and complains to the owner when he doesn't get to do so. Again, he refused to come off the field in one game, and the Cowboys had to burn a timeout. He's a selfish, diva whose time has come to get the boot.

Anthony Henry should go, too. He's not the answer at safety, imo. He can't run fast enough, and he will probably get hurt at that position.

If they cut Ellis, there better be a plan to replace his pass rush.

They shouldnt release him because he definitely has trade value.

And we shouldnt do anything because of exactly what you said. He is still a quality pass rusher.

Do you think Greg Ellis is worth $ 5.25 million dollars to keep?

Do you know how many sacks Greg Ellis had during the first 10 games?

3 sacks (2 in week 2 and 1 in St. Louis)

He had 2.5 sacks against the Giants when their RT left the game hurt.

Only the Cowboys could pull this one off if he stays.

He got better once Wade took over. Don't forget that he's 9th in the league over the past 2 years in terms of Sacks. Question is who replaces him? Spencer looked promising, but I'm not sold on him yet.

I'm really starting to believe that we could draft Connor Barwin and plug him in as a starter in place of Ellis. Call me insane I just get a strange feeling it is true.

How are the Cowboys unable to package Roy38 and Ellis for ANYTHING??

Both are diminished, but still productive. As in pro bowl productive. That has got to be worth SOMETHING?

Cutting them is a serious waste of resources IMO, b/c there is NOBODY as good/productive to replace them on the roster.

Difference between Roy and Ellis is that one of them can still play. Ellis is hated more by us (in general) because we hear more about him in the press, which is valid. But I wonder which one is more popular with his teammates, the pretender or the producer?

Ellis will leave the Cowboys in one way or the other and will try out for the Rams and the Raiders and the Raiders will actually sign him. All Ellis has to do is increase his rebel/bad boy profile to catch on with the Raiders.
Ellis is through here. Or should be.

At some point you have to take a chance on your young guys and cut the dead wood. Ellis is dead wood at $5 mill a year.
