What have you made your wife/husband/gf/bf do so you could watch the game?

Was just reading a thread where someone mentioned their girlfriend having issues with his Cowboys fandom and I thought I'd get other people's experiences.

Here's the most recent thing I experienced:

My girlfriend and I live in Seattle. We went on a short vacation this past weekend to Eastern Washington. We were there only Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday and Saturday were great, and now it was Sunday, our last day of vacation. She wanted to do something different and see the sights one last time, so we drove to the little town off Lake Chelan. I figured she'd be able to do some things on her own while I watched the game. Unfortunately, this town was a ghost town because it's only really a summer resort getaway. Fortunately, I found one little restaurant in the town open that had a TV with no sound off in the back corner by the kitchen and bathroom. So we sat there for 3 and a half hours while I watched the game and she read a book. By the time the game was over, it was too dark to see anything and we drove back home. I told her be grateful, the first two days were fun.

I turned mine into not only a football fan, but a Cowboy fan at that! Now, she gets fired up on gamedays and I don't have to worry about what I am going to have to do with her :)

Mine's not even American so, not only do I have to turn her into a Cowboys fan, but I have to get her to understand the rules of football first.

My GF is a hated 9er fan, and she knows to respect me during Cowboys games, and I don't mess with her during whiner games. When we played against each other in the season's opener, I just conceded that our team just sucked. Times have changed since. Small lesson there, don't ever get too over confident until the final bell has rung.

Try to relate it to soccer somehow. You can also show her a picture of a shirtless Witten, that worked for me

The holidays and Football are ALWAYS a fight with my wife... and shes a cowboys "fan".

We have to leave places early, skip things, be late to dinners etc to watch the game... but for the most part she's pretty good about it all... She gets that it's only a few months out of the year and when they win I'm so happy that she gets whatever she wants so this year she's been extremely happy...

LOL

My GF is a Packers fan, but I've trained her that Cowboys football is priority #1. Her family used to pressure her to pressure me to come over during Thanksgiving but I refused to do it during the game. I told her it is a tribute for my late father that I won't be beaten down about it like my Mom did to my Dad.

My gf is one of Wilbon's nieces so she comes from a long line of Bears and Commanders fans. I simply made her sit down and watch a Cowboys game with me and now she swears allegiance to the star. She knows now those Cowboy games are sacred

I laughed at the last sentence. Not sure if it was intended to be humorous or not. But it sounds like a winner as far as laying down the law.

Me watching football all day Sunday isn't a problem for my Japanese wife. When we first got married she asked her Japanese friends married to American guys if there was something wrong with me since I 'sat around and watched football from 1 pm to 11:30 pm'. Her friends assured her that it is 'normal' behavior and not to worry.

Trying to squeeze in college games on Saturday and Monday Night and Thursday Night games is a challenge. Needless to say, I am on my best behavior during football season. I also bribe her with Coach bags, shoes, sushi, and cook a lot for her. Making her a good cheesecake works wonders.:)

as far as bribes i do not condom them. they lead to accomdation with her wishes. Like one day you will be axed to sit through a chick movie starring debra winger and and maybeMeg ryan and maybe a tv show about decorating toy ducks with little clothes. i just hate when that happen.once i was made to go see "An Officer and a Gerbil." Man was i disgusted.

Cowboy fandom is the first criteria one should use when meeting a possible significant other. :)

I couldnt imagine being with someone who doesnt have the same or more Cowboy love than you do.

But bravo for those who were able to convert your significant others in some way.

Those who are still having trouble, just drop them on the side of the road and dont look back. GO COWBOYS.

Me and my wife have been married for 25 years. We had been married for a couple years and the Cowboys were in the NFC championship game. We had friends over and her and another lady were preparing the food. My wife cut her finger badly while opening a can. It needed stitches and I didn't know what to do. The game had just Started! She knew how much I loved the Cowboys so her friend took her to the ER to have it sewed up. She didn't get mad at me but I did feel kind of bad about it..lol

Sunday (or which ever day they are playing) during football season is basically a weekly holiday :) Everyone knows it is my day to watch the Cowboys and no one says anything or schedules anything to prevent that from happening. The other 6 days of the week I'm at their disposable.

My gf knows Dallas Cowboys football is the priority. She doesn't like football though, so there's no arguing she does her thing I do mine
