What I took away from last night: Dallas moving forward

Well, Pittsburgh won another Super Bowl. I can't honestly say I wanted them to win it, but they deserved it. However, there was a lot of positives that I took from it.

This was the same team that Dallas beat on every aspect of the game except the one that really matters, the scoreboard. We more than proved that we could hang with the very best the league has to offer. Not making excuses, but if we don't suffer as many huge injuries as we did, the outcome of this season might have been very different. Felix Jones was a huge lose. I think it might have had a major effect on Garrett's play calling because there is no replacement on the roster for someone with Felix's ability. I also don't think Romo ever really got back to his usual level of play after the injury. He took a step backwards, and hopefully he'll get healthy and put in the work this offseason to take his game back up to pro-bowl caliber. The O-Line injuries were also something that was hard to overcome.

That being the case, I think Dallas is in a great position to compete for the championship next season. It might even be better now that some of the pressure will be off. I just don't see why so many people are advocating complete rehauls of the coaching staff and the release of our #1 WR? I can't blame Wade for the lost season. In fact, it really was pretty remarkable that he got us in the position to be in the playoffs after the way things were going. He took over the defense and really turned it around, last 2 games excluded. Bringing in a new coach with a new system seems to me like going 2 steps backwards with the hope of going 3 steps forwards. We're really only a step away as it is, and I think Wade's capable of taking us there. Owens doesn't seek out the media attention as much as the media seeks him out. I really don't blame him for it, as I think the media plays a major role in creating the distraction. I fail to see how our offense is going to be improved by losing the best WR on it. Owens wants to be here and has an unbelievable desire to win, and I think that's a good thing to have on a team.

Obviously somethings need to be corrected, and I think we can address them through FA and the draft. However, until proven otherwise, I'm expecting the Cowboys to have a shot at beating anyone who's lining up against them next season. My expectations are as high as they were going into this season.

Just my opinion. Now it's back to obsessing over the draft. April can't get here soon enough.

I agree with everything you said... Except the part about TO. ;)

But yes, unless you think it showed some permanent flaw in Tony Romo, that Steeler game should be a great example of why we should be optimistic.

We played both Super Bowl teams to the wire. The people who think this team is hopeless and should be blown up are crazy.
