What if Rice was a Cowboy?

SF leap frogged us in the draft to select Rice. What if they didn't? It is common knowledge he would have been our pick.

How do you think his career would have gone? How do you feel it would have affected the Niners? Would we have still drafted Irvin a few years later? If not, what if he would have been drafted by the Niners?

Just imagine an offense with Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin, Rice, Novacek....and then in the late 90s......Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin, Rice, and Moss.........

Absolutely absurd.

We could have had Mike Singletary too but opted for Howard richards. A lot of interesting non choices that could have altered history.

LOL thought you meant Ray Rice at first. Jerry Rice would have been good to have indeed. Ray, not as much

We could've had Joe Montana but opted for Doug Cosbie.

randy moss still gets me mad. 2-3 more titles if u ask me wouldve been in dallas.

The Cowboys were in decline by then and once Aikman was done in 2000 they didn't have a QB who could get the ball deep which is why Joey Galloway failed in Dallas. Moss wouldn't have had the career with the Cowboys that he did with Minnesota.

We still had a solid OL. We had Emmitt (greater than Roberts Smith) and Irvin (greater than Chris Carter). Adding Moss would have put us back into Championship contention for sure.

There were some comparisons Joey Galloway had great speed like Moss and was an excellent deep receiver which is why Jerry gave up two #1's for him. I'm certainly not saying Joey Galloway was on par with Randy Moss not hardly but they were comparable in speed and the ability to make big plays down the field.

Galloway was blowing by people in Seattle, matter of fact I bet he was faster than Moss. However Moss's height, hands, and leaping ability made him one of the greatest talents to ever play.

By 2000 the OL was starting to come apart Aikman was getting killed which led to his final concussion. Randall Cunningham was done by the time he arrived in Dallas and after him the Cowboys were left with Anthony Wright followed by Quincy Carter the following year along with several other scrubs that led to 3 consecutive 5-11 seasons. The OL and QB situation was dreadful during those seasons and Moss would have been miserable and he likely would have given the team nothing but headaches. We didn't have the coaching with Dave Campo and we certainly didn't have the team that Moss had in Minn during his productive prime years for him to be successful with the Cowboys.

A WR is a slave to their QB and Aikman was starting to show signs of decline by the late 90's. Some of the most productive seasons for Moss in Minn were from 2000 to 2003 which was when the Cowboys were in deep decline. Moss looked done with a bad Raiders team in 05 and 06 primarily due to their QB situation but with NE and Tom Brady in 2007 he was back to putting up over 1400 yards again. FANS who think Moss would have turned a declining Cowboys team that had no QB from 2000 to 2006 into a championship team are being ridiculous.

Like I said Galloway's only comparison to Moss was speed and he did make a lot of big plays in Seattle which again is why Jerry overpaid with two 1's to get him. Even with Moss's height, hands and leaping ability he still needed a solid QB to be productive and the Cowboys had no QB from 2000 to 2006. Aikman was already coming down by 99 and so was the team. The Cowboys were 8-8 in 99 and went 5-11 the next 3 seasons.

There was an entire series of bad memories at QB that started with Anthony Wright and those who think Moss could have turned him and the rest of the scrubs we had over this years into productive NFL QB's are fooling themselves.

Another thing you have to remember is by the late 90s Troy had lost some on his deep ball due to his back problems. He claimed nearing the end of his career he had lost 15 yards on his deep ball. Cunningham and Culpepper had rockets for arms and Moss flourished. The QBs the Cowboys had after Aikman didn't have great arms and the OL had gotten so bad none of them had time to get the ball down the field which is why Galloway didn't pan out.
