What if the Cowboys draft a corner at 28?

The problem is, they don't need another body at DE. They got plenty of those.

They need a big time talent at DE. You can only get that by taking one early.

I would be livid if we took a corner at 28. There will be a CB available at 60 that will be similarly graded.

Taking a corner first means you have to pray a guy like Basham, Rivers, or Willis makes it to 60.

And who are the impact pass rushers you see being available at 28?

I would prefer another direction but would not freak out if they went for a corner who has a history of making plays.

With that being said this defense will not improvement VW much until they find a way to improve their pass rush. Improved corner play would help if they can consistently get pressure with the d-line

Give me an impact game-changer play-maker who hits, tackles, creates turnovers, plays with ferocity, and intimidates offensive players.
All things being equal, a defensive lineman or linebacker is of a greater value and brute force than a secondary player at 28.

Avoid overrating the current bloated roster of DL & suspect unproven LB corps (outside of S. Lee) on this team.

This defense is still in the rebuilding, not reinforcing status.
Amplify and bolster the defense from the inside out.

What if Njoku is there? I take him in a red-hot second and then worry about defense after that...that guy gives Dak his "witten" for the next 10 years....

I know most of the speculation surrounding on Dallas' first round pick has centered around the several possible defensive ends that could be chosen. Could it be, however, that they choose to go with a cornerback, rather than the coveted position of edge rusher?

I have wondered if they would not pick a corner, if they were somewhat satisfied that the pass rush could be improved upon with the current players on the roster. Especially after we had the exiting of defensive backs in free agency. I'm not saying this is the best way to go; honestly, I really do not know if it is or not. But I am beginning to think it is a possibility.

Since the aforementioned pass rushers have been in the spotlight, let me ask this. If a cornerback is the choice, which one would you prefer?

I know this link has been posted in the newsfeed forum, but it seems Spagnola is thinking the same thing.

They could, but I dont see it. I think there will be a run in CB's during the 15 or so picks before ours and the true 1st rounders will be gone, especially with Kevin King getting some top 15 talk now. I think Lattimore, Humphries, Conley, King and White will be gone by our pick. Not one after that would be value at 28

Well pass rushers typically don't make an impact right off the bat. But that logic shouldn't stop us from drafting one.

Watt is a guy who can develop into a double digit sack a season guy. If he had another year of production under his belt at Wisconsin, no chance he falls to 28.

Except he doesn't have that extra year and he has blown out both knees.

The draft is about probability of success and that extra year greatly improves that probability because it minimizes the probability of him being a 1 year wonder and it would show more time without an injury.

We'll draft a DE. Jerry Jones has already given us the clue with his talk about a "War Daddy". You find "War Daddies" in the first round.
Jerry is transparent as a thong bikini. He usually tells you exactly what we're going to do on draft day.

Besides, I think our success with Anthony Brown leads us to believe we can find CBs in the second and third rounds.

Now, who's your War Daddy?

Guys under 200lbs are never exciting picks. This draft is too deep with DB'S to get one in the 1st IMO.

If we're cleaned out of the DE's that I think they will want then CB is probably the next best option if the value is right.

I think he's gone regardless

If WAR DADDYs' Takk, Taco, Mcdowell or Harris are there, IMhumbleO, we don't take a DB.
