But But i was told on here by some that the delay was only because they want to do it for the 4th of july weekend so no one will notice it. i told you guys you were living in a dream world. it's been 5 weeks. the 4th of July has come and gone.. and still nothing. it was what i said it was. the NFL doing another screw job on Hardy and the Cowboys.the longer this goes on. the longer it takes for Hardy and the NFLPA to get this BS to court. some of you who tried to defend this BS, need to wake up.

If Brady's case gets decided before Hardy, I will be here on stand-by with Crown and popcorn at the helm!

really? I think they look indecisive and weak.

They are not ndecisive. they know exactly what they are doing. this is deliberate. THEY ARE OUT TO SCREW HARDY AND THE COWBOYS. i don't know why some on here refuse to believe it.

There is no reason for this to have taken 5 weeks. NONE! they already know they are going to uphold the 10 games. this is them trying not only to make sure Hardy can't get this to court fast. but to screw the cowboys for getting him in the first place. it's flat out sickening to watch.

I tried explaining this to people earlier and reading the last few pages it seems like people still don't understand how this works. Really troubled by a lot of the comments I saw here.

This is pretty simple.

It starts with Ray Rice. They suspended Ray Rice for two games per the standard. Whether that standard was wise or not is not the case here.

The NFL facing backlash decided to suspend him again. Something they can not do. Rice appealed his suspension. The arbitrator here was a Judge, though the case did not go to court. Jones found in favor of Rice, because of course she did. The NFL tried to make things up and she didn't buy it.

The story moves on to Adrian Peterson who was placed on the commissioners exempt list pending resolution of his case. His case was resolved before the end of the season, and he submitted to be reinstated. When this happened the NFL suspended him 6 games according to the new rules on domestic violence. In the appeal, the arbitrator Henderson found in favor of the NFL. This is because Henderson is a shill for the NFL. Peterson and the NFLPA appealed this decision in court, and the Judge (doty) found that Henderson erred in his conclusion, and sent the issue back for further arbitration. The NFL appealed Doty's decision.

Rather than arbitrate the case per the order of the Federal Judge, the NFL moved Henderson not to do anything until their appeal to Eight Circuit was heard and decided. They decided this on their own, and did not seek a stay (which would have likely been rejected). This is contempt of court, which is why the NFLPA has filed a motion against the NFL for being in contempt of court.

This also relates to Hardy because he too is being suspended unfairly under the same guidelines that Doty threw out Henderson's original decision on Peterson. The NFL changed some of the language here to trick the court, but the court is not foolish.

The reason why they haven't ruled on Hardy is the same reason they haven't re-arbitrated Peterson, because they don't want to, because they'll both need to go down to 2 games and there is no pressure on the NFL to do so at the moment.

However the contempt hearing is on August 13th, and we should have a resolution either by then or on that date as it relates to not just Peterson but Hardy as well.

You shouldn't necessarily expect anything to happen before then.

If any other team had signed him, they'd be sitting in the same spot right now that Dallas is in. No need to start in with conspiracies on this one.

There is absolutely no chance that this decision is held until the 13th.

the truth of the matter is Hardy and NFLPA have NFL between rock and hard place. The NFL knows they have no legal jurisdiction to impose 10 game suspension on case from 2014. There is no grey areas to this case. Its black and white and NFL has zero chance of winning. So when we ask how long this will go....the answer is: how long does NFL have to admit that they grossly over-shot in effort to appease advertisers and special interest groups.

Article 46 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement requires a decision “as soon as practicable,”. Now while that is vague language I don't think it gives NFL ability to drag their feet 10 games into season. The Union would have a field day with that. I think NFL has until start of season to make a decision before the Union acts. Once it gets into court I don't expect it to take long and 2 games suspension will be handed down. Two game suspension puts Hardy at Sept 22nd to rejoin the team.

Peterson has been waiting much longer than that.

If Henderson was going to rule before the contempt hearing, you would think he would have done it already. He still could, but I wouldn't count on it.

it takes time to get into any positional game shape

Has had a full offseason to knock the rust off. Has up to 4 preseason games as well.

Great job on your "Cliff's Notes" version of this process, thank you. I to believe that the NFL is waiting for the contempt hearing. We all know that Henderson is going to rubber stamp the NFL's ruling, unless the court finds for the NFLPA in the contempt case then I see Henderson reducing the suspension only because he was previously ruled against. Either way I see this running right up to the start of the season before it's resolved.

He actually has no other choice. It is the players rep (NFLPA) that has the legal go ahead for these types of matters. Even if the NFLPA files sued on behalf of Hardy to get a ruling quicker, that case more than likely would be scheduled after the August 13th hearing.

Putting your foot down would have been upholding the suspension the next day. This is typical indecisive, disorganized League Office crap.

If they upheld the suspension the next day, Hardy would have filed in court against them, and his court date would almost certainly be before the 8th circuit looks at this in October. Who knows if the 8th circuit will even rule while the season is still going on.

The 8th circuit is more business friendly whereas the district court in minnesota is more labor friendly.

The NFL probably thinks they can stall this to a more hospitable court, but they really messed up in not seeking a stay.

The NFL has said they aren't using the new guidelines with Hardy. They can't honestly just refuse to rule on Hardy's appeal because there is different Federal appeal in progress. Hardy hasn't even got to the Federal court level yet. Once they rule on Hardy, then it can be rolled into the Doty case, if applicable.
