What is the max amount you can pay a QB and still win a SB

Tom Brady's "discount" has made everyone lose their collective minds.

Are the Chiefs just done winning Super Bowls once they pay Mahomes? No. Peyton was still the 9th-highest paid QB in the league, and he was the highest paid the year he signed that contract.
but Manning and Mahomes>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Dak

It's just absolutely insane to have this talk of the highest paid QB winning a SB with a guy who looks to sit in the middle of the league with too many average QBs.

I can't understand how people in the press are writing that Dak is better than Mahomes.

Well the Seahawks and Steelers (Minus Injuries) have been consistent. Packers were god awful at drafting and the Lions? Dumpster fire.

Its not always a free pass to Superbowl like the Pats were given with crappy division they are in.

They wasted 2016 and 2018 which were our windows and now they have to pay a price. I sure the hell wouldn't want to work for less, no one here would. These dudes get paid big bucks and every extra million can go a long way.

When the Seahawks signed Wilson..I new it was gonna get crazy from there, and they are having trouble building a roster with his contract.

Coaching can make up for a great deal of not having raw costly talent. You seem to discount that with the Pats and Cowboys.

Wish Jerry believed that sooner the lack of value he put on coaching wasted a lot of good raw talent . The elite coaching staff needs to be built FIRST as it transcends players careers and dosent count against the cap . Then as talent is added it can be used properly and reach its potential in a reasonable amount of time .

We finally have a real coaching staff and now its going to be tougher to keep the talent we had

There have been seven times that a QB taking up up 10% or more of a team's cap won the SB.

One of them was Eli Manning in 2011 (11.7%).

Elite QB’s are the clearest path to remain a consistent contender over an era despite other weaknesses and shortcoming on the roster due to the Cap.

And the more times you can take it to the brink the more opportunity you have of breaking thru.

Limiting the results to only winning Super Bowls is creating a narrative to support an argument.

The teams with Elite QB’s are more often and consistently making deep runs in the playoffs to championship games and Super Bowls.
Rodgers and Brees have been called elite for at least a decade or more and they each have only played once in the superbowl. Heck until this year both missed the playoffs completely for multiple years back to back. Brees had 3 straight 7-9 seasons and Rodgers had worst losing seasons.

At least most of those teams paid their qb $$$$ after a Super Bowl or two. We missed the playoffs and are looking to pay the qb $$$$. Smh.

It dosent look like very much to me . Are the Packers , Seahawks , Vikings , Steelers Lions winning SBs

Pats with the GOAT at a very reasonable figure are pretty consistent at it , A guy that not only elevates the players around him but plays cheap seems to be the answer.

How much was Nick Foles and Wentz making together when they won it How about Flacco and Wilson when they won SBs or Mahomes this year Didnt Peyton take a pay cut in 2015 so the Broncos could get it done .

This isnt about Dak wanting to get paid THEY ALL WANT AND DO GET PAID . The difference is their respective franchises dont SQUANDER their rookie contracts and provide the team with talent and coaching to get it done before THEY HAVE TO PAY THEM!!!!

We didnt make use of the window of opportunity and IMO it dosent matter if its 30 or 40 MIL WE NEEDED TO GET IT DONE WHILE IT WAS 650K
Now we will be a few players away like all the rest of the teams that have had to pay . No matter how well we are coached or how well Dak plays it wont equal the 6-8 impact players we could have for 30 -40 mil

Which is why we need to maintain the roster through the draft each year rather than bundling picks to get one big pick. Some want to do that to go get Burrow.

Totally agree on that but squandering high Dline picks is not maintaining its killing us . Our washed up Dline coach who is history now cant get along with Taco so we let him go to Miami to have as many sacks as our Star player Randy Gregory Tristen Hill Sheesh are we using the magic 8 ball to pick these guys

Sounds great to us Cowboy fans

I would trade the Romo era for a bag of rocks . I would not trade Daks era for Rodgers 2016 to present
Now there’s just no reasoning with that rationale.

But it explains how much of our fans fell head over heels for Prescott after his Rookie year. And no reason we should have fans who have different feelings for Romo and Dak both QB’s who haven’t had enough success.

The Saints had three straight 7-9 seasons under the Brees / Peyton regime. But yet no one was screaming for their heads.
They weren't all that consistent. But more than Garrett.

Since Brees took over at QB they had 8 winning season, 5 losing season, and an 8-8 season.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nor/

Made NFCC game 3 times, of course won a SB as well. Lost WC or Divisional round all the other times. 5 times for those that do not want to click the link, but want to comment anyway.
That just shows a team need more than a elite qb to win SB or even get to champ game.
Rodgers only made it to one sb even though in playoffs almost every year. The team he won with had a vg defense too.
Brees only won the NO SB because their defense was taking out the opposing qb's , that was the bounty SB, should have been farve or st louis in SB.
NO also had a good defense that year.
To me good defense seems to be the one constant in teams that win SB's.
I also think SF could have and should have won the SB, but shanahan was terrible in game plan, game mgmt and play calling.
Their defense kept them in the game, but Shanahan blew that game by himself.

It wouldn't have made a lick of difference if they gave Brady a contract like Rodgers.

He just didn't demand it because his wife makes more money than an entire salary cap.
Opinion. Which I disagree w/ heartily.

"In 2017 , Gisele made more than 17.5 million dollars. In 2016, Gisele earned a total of 30.5 million dollars. Forbes magazine reported that Gisele’s salary in 2018 was 10 million dollars. At the height of her fame as a model, Gisele earned 44 million dollars from 2014 to 2015."

She is not even close to Dak's 40M yearly salary .
She made 44M once , and doesn't average 40M per year.

You can go cheap at a lot of positions and win a Super Bowl but not the QB position. There’s a reason QBs are being paid the way they are. If you want to go cheap at QB you’ll end up with one of the names that are being mentioned here. You’ll end up starting a backup. Sure, there’s been teams that have won Super Bowl’s with average QBs but those teams had GREAT defenses. Those teams won games with defense. All their QBs had to do was drive the bus and manage games. Yes, an average QB like Nick Foles won a Super Bowl but he didn’t play like an average QB in the playoffs and Super Bowl.

You can’t bank on bringing in an average QB who should be carrying a clipboard and depend on them playing like a Hall of Famer when it matters most. Everyone made a big deal about Jimmy G being paid a lot of money but he did end up leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl. It took a great performance in the final 7 minutes of the Super Bowl by a truly great QB who will be making 40+M pretty soon to keep Jimmy G from hoisting the Lombardi trophy. Super Bowls usually come down to the QB and the 4 highest paid QBs in the league in 2019 made the playoffs last season.
