Sucks I cannot create a poll.

What was worse for you as a fan? For me it was the Campo years. Those teams were horrid. Zero hope. Worse QB ever for the franchise.

3x 5-11 years with Campo
3x 8-8 years with Garrett

Easy 3 x 8-8, since 3x5-11 drove jerry t bite the bullet and get a real coach (BP) whose main products , Witten , romo and ware were main show of this team until now but declined or declining.

3x8-8 make no dent in his thinking and going for 4th one now with JG and the hope we are a couple of players away.

Time for overhaul, sooner the better. Fire JG today

Campo does not deserve the blame for those years. It was all on the crappy roster....

The difference between the two eras is very similar is some aspects and yet very different. The end result though exactly the same. Do you like to be teased or not is really what it comes down to. I will say I think the general direction of the team is better with Garret than with Campo. I think the real problem is the overall culture of the franchise. They have become losers that expect to lose.

5-11
No money
Poor coaching
Terrible roster
No playoffs

8-8
No money
Suspect coaching
Decent roster with holes
No playoffs

8-8 is worse.

did you know despite 17 years of this nightmare, we've only picked once in the top 5 of the draft. we are very good at ruining our draft position without making the playoffs.

give me three years of 5-11 to rebuild the talent and maybe we can come out of it like the niners did.

How often have the Steelers and Ravens drafted in the top 5? You can rebuild if you draft right.

The three 5-11 seasons were worse for me because the Super Bowl memories were still pretty fresh in my mind and you could see that Campo was out of his league.

These last few 8-8 seasons have just made me apathetic towards the whole thing because it seems Jerry is fine with mediocrity. If he wasn't, he'd be serious about making meaningful change instead of sticking with the same GM, coach and other staff.

There's no hope we can win anything either way. We might win the bad NFC East but nothing more. It's just about the same thing. The only difference is that our QB makes some great plays to make people think we're better than we are.

Let's put it this way......you keep flooring it and the wheels keep spinning....can't go forward and can't go backward.....eventually you need to get your arse out of the car and start digging to put in some solid footing don't you think? Nothing wrong with getting out and get dirty, but you need to have a plan. Unfortunately, it's something these two Bozos have none. Thus even less hope.

I hear you there. The current team sucks at winning. And at losing in the sense that the draft position is mid to late as well. I hate the salary cap and parity driven league.

If you're a bandwagon fan 5-11, because you want a higher pick, will turn off the TV and avoid the meaningless games, don't know much about football, and don't really get much out of football anyway unless your team is winning.

Like 9er fans and the oh so obnoxious bronco fans these days.

Haven't seen as much mid 90's jerseys and gear this past season since the stoolers won that Super Bowl against Seattle.

3X 8-8 is much worse because you have the illusion of being competitive so much less impetus to make a change and we get the usual excuses of "progress", "continuity" etc

at 3X 5-11, there are no excuses, you suck, change things

I'd like to meet you in real life.

Everything you do has to be too notch.

Will you be my mentor?

If you're one of the many fans (like me) who watches every game, every year, then it's not even a question. Clearly 8-8 is preferable over 5-11. I'd rather see my team win 24 games over that 3 year span than 15.

And all of this talk about 5-11 = better draft picks, etc, is straight up poppycock. The draft is FAR from an exact science and much more of a crap shoot than most on here want to admit. Look at the perennial bottom of the barrel teams that have high picks nearly every year and blow them over and over.

8-8 is better...still sucks though.

If you had said one year at 5-11, I may have taken the bait.
But three in a row at 5-11 means absolutely nothing is going right, including the higher draft picks. Lol

I see no difference except draft position.

Therein lies my answer. When we have a pet coach project who squanders 2 - 4 games a year, I would rather be going 5 - 11 for the higher draft picks. What good does it do to win 3 extra games when your coach(learning from Jerry???) can't get you to the playoffs anyway. As long as Garrett is doing his OJT, we might as well benefit from better draft positions instead of having Romo win games like he did with Washington.

But people will now tell you, you are not a real fan of this team because this looks like you are rooting against them.

To me there are two acceptable results.

10-6 and above.

5-11 and below.

One means you are in the hunt.

The other means you are drafting at the top of the rounds and have an increased potential to get a better player.

Of course there is a third option. Jerry traded away the top picks because of a WR that was a wasted pick for the team they acquired him from and you wasted the 5-11 and below by sucking while another team gets a better pick.

That last option has a great deal of probability since the GM of this franchise couldn't pick a one horse race.

I totally agree!!!!!

8-8 is worse because it is purgatory. Not good enough to play with the best and continuously being disappointed by false hope and not bad enough to be able to fortify your team at the top of the draft.

If I know ahead of time what the outcome is going to be then yes, of course I'd rather be 5-11. But during the course of a season when anything can happen, I'd still like to root for a team that at least mathematically has a chance. So in that case I'd take 8-8.
