From the province of truths, justice and the Armenian Way of Life, Air Cowboys America, the 50,000-watt beacon of football and pigeons in Farmers Branch where window lead never hurt no one here.

Now, no one appreciates Jerra more than this proud son of the High Plains dust storms.
We had a saying back thar, and we is good at sayings, that in life there are things we want, things we need and things we try for. Also in life the NFL and the Players Union work in mysterious ways, like God. Except God is much more generous (a nod to scriptwriter in "Flight of the Phoenix.").

So Jerra is fresh from a relatively successful season. Many, many did worse.
And Jerra did it with an idiot head coach and an offensive coordinator who maybe thinks too much of his gray and red fibrous matter and can ignore talent oozing from Ogle and Felix and Tash.

What a mess, I confess, I digress like an old pop song that plays it over and over and over agin.
Yes, we are winning. But we need a bit of a nudge to get deeper into the playoffs.
Jerra the eternal optomitrist, looks at the draft as a way to get better -- INSTANTLY. He, like many of my fellow fans, think that it works like magic. Trade up and get a marquee-name player! Get the NAME and the REP and draft that kid and instant success.
The draft holds many opportunity for Jerra. And some pitfalls. More pitfalls than Jerry Lewis in a 50s movie. More danger than Stella Stevens in a low cut tennis outfit.
This is what Jerra needs:
1. O line
2. secondary
3. special teams
2. secondary
3. special teams
This is what Jerra covets:
1. QB (He can't help it; a clausen or Tebow gets his heart racing. You know it, I know it and Bob Dole knows it.)
2. RB (Yes, git out of my face; I knows we have felix and Tash and that other guy.)
3. DE (Really)

This is what Jerra will go after:
1. OL
2. Secondary
3. WR

3. WR
Me, I'd say Jerra, if he sticks to what he will and should go after, will go with the latter.
Sadly, while wise choosing this spring will strengthen us and give us depth 2 years down the future, the draft will be of minimal hep this year.
Jerra will take essentailly the same team as last year to do battle with the Jets, Arizonas, Patriots, New Orleans, Chargers, Ravans, Vikings (who humiliated the Cowboys last year) who have improved themselves. To me, getting to the Super Bowl next year will be a lot harder than playing in the Super Bowl).

If the Super Bowl is this year's aim, Jerra needs FA in a big way and draft realistically for 2 or 3 years down the road. I'd say that the Cowboys know in their hearts of hearts that the Cowboys Super Bowl dreams rest at least 2 years down the road. After dat, age and other teams catch up and surpass the Cowboys as is the cycle in the NFL.
With the presence of the aforementioned teams listed above, don't look for drafting the old way Jerra had. He's smarter now and knows he must go with need but for a future team. It, clearly is not about next winter's Super Bowl, it is, for the Cowboys braintrust, a matter of the 2012 season.
Amen, you may now stand.
