When Carney gets healthy the Saints will either release him or that guy who's been kicking for them, and either of them might get the job done.

Buehler cannot possibly be less reliable than Folk right now, and the only reason I can imagine the didn't make a move to him earlier is to protect Folk's fragile psyche. Missing a...what...24 yarder?

That reason is no longer valid. Unless Folk has an epiphany IMMEDIATELY I would imagine Buehler is kicking field goals next week. They may actually cut him first.

Suisham has missed three kicks this year. Because he missed important ones against us and the Saints, he was cut.

He was money before that, and I'd be willing to take a look.

I would put him on IR and hope he regains his accuracy in 2010 training. I think his hip surgery and his missed time in training took a big toll on conditioning and accuracy.

Three things:

1. Folk isn't going to be cut this year. At least I doubt it...He may be inactive, but I doubt we cut him. Nor do I want him cut. I'm not ready to give up on him for good.

2. There is no doubt a FA kicker can do better than Folk right now. I'm not a fan of Buehler as main kicker, as he hasn't practiced FG's as much as a FA kicker I'd bet. But if he can show it in practice, he gets the job by default. If not, I'd bet a veteran is brought in.

3. Folk did make a 44 yarder earlier in the game. However, he is clearly affected by pressure as he shanked a gimme in crunch time.

The thing I don't get is, if he isn't good under pressure how the hell does he bang home back to back 53 yarders...

I think the guy probably still has it in him to return to his former self but it shouldn't be for the remainder of this year. Bench em, let him work on his issues this offseason and start anew next year.

That's what I said. Those are his only misses of the year, though.

The question is, has he gone mental? If not, then there is no question about his accuracy. And I would bring him in to find out.

The UFL's season just finished. Just bring in the best kicker from that league .. at least you know he's been practicing and competing and probably has a hot hand. That seems to be what 80% of kicking boils down to anyway. It's not like the difference in talent level from the UFL to NFL means anything for a kicker. His only competition is the uprights.

Graham Gano .. made 13 out of 16 attempts in the UFL. Long of 53.
Matt Bryant was 11 for 14.
Douglas Parker .. 7/10, long 44
