Needs seasoning.

He only played 8 snaps, so the coaches are backing off.

He only played 8 snaps b/c he's not doing anything to warrant more playing time.

Unfortunately, our best DL at this point is a guy we picked up off the waiver wire from Kansas City. That's not saying much for the drafting, not to mention the cap space afforded to one of them via extension.

I think Taco just needs some brute strength, he seems to get pushed around a bit. Hes got the elite gifts otherwise but needs a year in the weight room imo. That said,
Rueben Foster should have been the highest rated player on everyones board by far at that point IMO! As such he should have been the pick period! Hes exactly what what missing out there yesterday!

Foster wouldn’t have been out there yesterday at all considering he’s injured.

He wouldnt have been where he was when he suffered the injury genius!
Heard of “causality”?
Could he have suffered an injury in dallas? Sure but so could anyone.

If you thought Taco would be anything more than a JAG at this point in his career, I am sorry to tell you that you had your hopes set way too high. The coaching staff, and just about every scout, had him as a guy with a high ceiling that, with proper coaching, could be a pro-bowl caliber player. I don't think anyone that followed his collegiate career thought that he was going to come in and dominate as a rookie. What we are realistically looking at is another DeMarcus Lawrence in terms of development. He may not wow at all this season, save for maybe a play or two here and there. But the hope is that by year two or three, he will start to dominate. Now that may not be what you want to see from him right now, but it is what it is. You are going to need a packet of patience sauce with Taco.

Did he get any playing time over our starting RDE Crawford?

I'm 100% against this comment. I think he showed a good amount of what he could do in preseason and in the regular season. I think that it is an absolute joke that Crawford is starting at RDE and I think if Taco got to rush the passer 25-30 times a game he would produce far more than Crawford and his meaningless pressures.

I think you have factor in mini-camps and practices. He's not doing anything in practices to make an impression on coaches. You don't hear practice tweets from the media about him improving or making plays. The guy has been a bust since mini-camps.

Invisible Taco? Did he even play? I don't recall his name being called for a sack.
I already moved on from him, honestly. I wasn't one bit excited when we drafted him and nothing has changed. I actually wanted to trade back. The guy is not good!

Lawrence and Irving will keep him off the field. I think he is viewed as the 4th man in the rotation right now with Mayowa in front of him aside from the starters. I know many are disappointed, but he's a young player that needs to add strength. Hopefully we'll see growth as the season goes on, but I'm happy the Cowboys aren't forcing him into the lineup.

It's a small sample size but I think he is only getting one tackle for every 35 snaps or so. That's non existent production including playing against the high school OTs that the Giants have. No sacks last time I heard.

Cheetos and Tacos,,, just my lone opinion, but rooks shouldn't even be given a nick name until they earn at least that amount of respect.

All kidding aside, and I was being rather sarcastic with that response, seems to come out when I'm feeling really bad about where this team is.
Heres the problem, and it has everything to do with how the rest of this defense currently is playing.

Wilson, Wilber
Smith, Durant
Lee, Hitchens

Hindsight is always 20/20, but outside of a healthy Lee, this is clearly the Achilles heel of this defense.
We can sit back and blame every player on this defense, but can you honestly expect positive results from this defense when this is what we have at the LB position, esp without a healthy captain in Lee?

Lee is still a great player. Jaylon was drafted because he could be a generational talent. He's not right now. But if he comes back to form then this defense could improve a lot.

I think LB should be pretty high on our needs list too, but I'm not sure what what we will do with the asset Igbo jaylon returns to form and Lee stays healthy.

We should probably look for a hybrid LB/Safety type to play on 3rd downs who can really cover like a blanket.
