A few months back I created a thread and it seemed the consensus was that Jason Witten has pretty much already stamped his ticket to Canton but Ware still has something left to prove, what is it? Is it simply him continuing his domination for another three seasons or so?

Already has a ticket but I think what would get him in faster is if they can get into being the Top D and the D guiding the team too te promise land.

With a ring no doubt about it. I think he is HOF now, he has a few more seasons in him and if he breaks sack records 1st ballot. But the board doesn't like to put Cowboys players in the Hall though.

If his career ended today he wouldn't make it.

Long list of guys with more sacks than him who aren't in.

According to Pro Football Reference Ware is 19th all time in sacks. 8 of the guys in front of him are already in the HOF and 3 are still active players. He'd be a HOF if he retired today.

All those guys in front of him played between 10 and 18 seasons. Nobody has put up the sacks in as short of time.

It's not just how many sacks but how dominant you are while you play. It is easy to argue Ware has been the best defensive player in the league for the overall time period 2005-present. I think he made the All-Decade team. He's had a 20 sack season and a 19 sack season.

I think he could be injured today and make it due to the degree of dominance while he was playing.

He will make it to the HOF based on his performance to date. But it might take years to happen. He needs to set the season sack record to be sure of a first ballot HOF.

If he can retire in the top 3 in sacks that will also put him in quickly.

He needs 50 more sacks (3.5 years of his average production) to become #3 in all time sacks behind Reggie White and Bruce Smith. At that he would be an absolute lock for a first ballot HOF.

I agree and I believe he needs one more monster year to get in right away, and even that might not guarantee immediate induction. A good example is Strahan.

To think he only needs 3.5 more years to be third all time is crazy. That is doable.

But its hardly a given. He's still got some work to do, get a Super Bowl MVP and he'll get in, other than that, he's going, at least, have to end up top 10 in sacks, IMO

He's a lock. Forget stats. He's one of the most dominant pass rushers of his time. That's why he's a lock.

I think he's ready a lock, but winning a Super Bowl would all but guarantee a first ballot
