What must the East be thinking?

We'll know pdq with 2 of the 3 teams most think will compete for the division up 1 and 2. The only ones picking the Eagles are doing so to gain favor from the parole board.

I like our chances with a healthy team but the pretend season is just that and I've seen too many teams reverse what I saw in the pretend season once the real game checks started coming. I recall one season when the Giants were 5-0 in the preseason and had everyone talking, then everyone talked about their 0-4 start once it got real.

It's certainly better to see positive signs rather than negative ones but until I see how we perform in these first two real games, we are as suspect as the other 3 teams.

Cowboys fans should remember how many years the Eagles and Commanders "won" the off-season and then came crashing down to earth once the games really counted.

To me it's not about winning on paper. Its winning with the selection of Dak. The last thing you want to see is a team in your division get thier next franchise qb. Add to that they all know about our oline and the legend of Zeke lol. Im fairly sure they are thinking this is real bad if we get a defense....

Actually, no.

The Commander fans are in full panic right now. They didn't have a good camp, and they haven't looked good at all in preseason.

The Giants could barely manage a first down against the same Dolphin team Dallas toyed with.

And Eagle fans are bracing for a 4-win season. They've already put Green-Beckham in the starting lineup because Aghalor looks like a bust. The offense is putrid because the offensive line is horrendous.

I got this off a Giants message board after another horrendous outing by Eli and the offense.

"We all should hope we see Dak Prescott this year because that'll mean Romo's hurt and we sure as hell can't beat them with him."

I hope Dak works out, but thinking that we have our "next franchise quarterback" after two quarters of pre-season football is premature.

Huh?

The reality is the east loves playing Dallas. Could there ever be a more simple team to prepare for and get motivated to play? The team is constantly on tv, radio...Nationally and locally.

Other teams coaching staffs probably love the Dallas week. With all the attention Dallas gets the other east teams probably mark the calendar to get a piece of Dallas.

Just read the other teams newspapers and websites the week leading up to playing Dallas, teams all of a sudden become motivated and whatever was going on goes away and they all get bombarded with questions about Romo, Dez, Witten etc..

The east teams are equally as talented to me. The giants and Commanders offense should be able to score with dallas and probably have the better defenses. Philly has the better defense but we need to see the offense first before we know what they are.

Our fans have been doing this since 05. We have a talented team but its not the NBA, the whole team needs to be good and play well.

He had 7.5, but that was with Wake and Suh getting all the attention. I'd be a little concerned about that if I were a Giants fan.

have you seen the other 3 guys staring next to him in ny?

If any nfce team won the offseason it's the giants. I don't really think any team is scared of Dallas.

I can see any of the teams in the NFC East finishing in last place. I have a hard time seeing the Eagles winning the division, but i guess it would be possible. Although I can easily see any of the other three winning the division.

Since the Eagles ran the division in the early 2000's, there has been very few repeat winners of the conference. So the betting money is a different team will win the division this year.

IMHO, IF the Eagles get decent QB play they can be just as good as anyone else in our division. Decent OL, decent backfield, WRs, TE. Their defense isn't anything to sleep on.

Haynesworth was 27 and Hall was 25 when they signed. Haynesworth became disgruntled after signing with the Commanders - mainly due to conflicts with Shanahan after flunking his fitness test.

Haynesworth became disgruntled b/c they played him at DE in a 3-4 where as he was used to playing DT in 4-3. I am not taking his side but if I were the Skins that wouldn't have been the guy I wanted if we were switching to a 3-4 defense.

The Eagles probably have the best defense in the division. Their o-line is shaky with Peters seemingly always hurt and Johnson probably gone for 10 games. Those problems will trickle down through their entire offense.

Their management isn't thinking about this year as much as further down the line. They've got their QB of the future (they think). Their best defensive players are signed long-term. They dumped the Chip Kelly players and their bloated contracts. They will now try to build from there.

Understood. But this is the jump the gun, over reaction, sink or swim league. Coaches dont as often get years to develop a team, qbs dont as often get to be groomed for years before starting. And fans....well we are the kings of over reacting.

That said, the skill set, the poise and his approach have more than the casual fan believing the Cowboys got thier guy. Only time will tell, but I can guarantee the fans for the rest of the east teams are not happy with what Dak is bringing to the table.

Edit: My fault, I misread the question. For some reason I was thinking of it as what do the fans of the rest of the east think. The players themselves probably care very little. I think most of the league believes they got a shot every season. Thats the nature of a professional athlete, to be overconfident with thier abilities. Id feel the same way if I was one in a million that made it to the pros.

True, I forgot about the Johnson suspension. Thanks

The story I read was that Shanahan wanted him to tie up the offensive line and allow the linebackers to make plays.

Haynesworth writes about meeting with Mike Shanahan (who will now get an extra chance at jumping into the media fray!) and learning the then-Skins coach simply wanted him "grab the center," "let the linebackers run free" and "eat space."

Haynesworth thought they were wasting his talent. He supposedly told Shanahan they could get somebody to do that for $300K/Yr.

“The last thing you’ll say before walking out of the office is, “Can’t you just pay someone $300,000 a year to do that?”

He did. He moved well, had poise, and showed his arm. Stats weren't there, but you can see it in him. He's going to be a headache when he finally gets some protection and help.

Goff looks lost. That looks like a bust.
You're missing the point for all the trees.

Saying Goff looks like a bust before his first Training Camp even closed is...not....smart.

A clavicle. A superstar. A nerve. A real backup. Two signings. A misunderstanding. A foot. A positional move. A recovered knee. And a long-awaited emergence.

Imagine if it all pans out. Romo, Zeke, Jaylon, Dak, Morris and Thornton, La'el, Dez, Byron, Scandrick, and Mo. Not to mention, what if Tapper, Collins, and Mayowa turn out to be players? Holy bajeebers.

Two months of work and a flask of luck might have turned this franchise into King Kong for NFC East foes to deal with. So many things seem to be falling into place, especially if that storied nerve of Jaylon Smith's decides to show up and join the party next summer.

And if THAT Dak Prescott is THE Dak Prescott, nine months from now could give birth to a new litter of defensive draft and free agency puppies to play with. Options will abound. No need to run naked through the streets like the Rams and Eagles did for a QB. (If vanilla is to blame, why aren't Goff and Wentz lighting it up to, eh?)

That's right, Eagles fans, we're just fine with our 4th-round compensatory pick. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Enjoy drafting in the first round in a decade, or whatever that treasure chest of picks cost you. Keep up the duct tape and super glue, Washington. Hope you find some replacements for those o-line matadors, New York, and perhaps a fully-fingered pass rusher one day. Vernon will be of no consequence against our line.

The entire NFC East might be watching the formation of multi-trilogy seasons of Cowboy dominance. You can feel their disgust. The bitterness is palpable. Again, albeit after a long Cowboys respite. They have to be sick to their stomachs.

It's hard not gloat, let alone smile.

Why would they be afraid of a team that went 4-12 last year?

Now anyone can certainly see that Romo is back and Zeke could be a beast but I highly doubt they have that homer faith that you do that everything will turn out just fine and we will steam roll everyone. No doubt they look at our defensive short comings and laugh where you seem to just say "whatever we will be fine".

Reality will dictate what happens not hopes and whims or even blind eyes.

Now the Eagles seem to be the complete opposite of the Cowboys. Very good defense and a horrid offense. I doubt they can make a run at the playoffs with the QB's they have.

The Commanders I expect to be a very good football team this year. I see us battling it out with them for the NFC East. And although I no longer have the fear if Romo goes down that I once did, Dak will have to prove to me, if that time comes that he can still look this good consistently against more complex defenses.

The Giants are a little bit of a mystery. They could go either way.
