What players have really developed under us?

I've been complaining for years about how our position coaches are held unaccountable for the lack of progress of development of our players.

Even though they may suck, we have a ton of talent on D, but other than Bradie James, who do you feel was home grown and really developed to thier potential under our regime (this goes back to when Jimmy left).

Newman is great, but don't you feel like he's way more talented than he's shown us?
Roy – he was a beast as a rookie, and sure a good FS would have helped, but couldn’t someone have taught him how to find a ball in the air, I know he has the skills to do it, we’ve seen him over the shoulder one hand and tap two feet in bound INTs before.
Ware – Too early to say, but he looks like he’s coming along nicely. He could use better individual pass rush moves, but hey, not everyone is Dwight Freeney.
Spears/Canty – their lack of taking any step forward has made them seem to take a step backward. And I’m so sick of hearing how we had the top run defense. Who did we play that ran well? Jacksonville, Tennessee, Houston, Philadelphia, New York, Washington (without Portis). We’ve stopped no one with a good running game.

Ellis – He’s so old now, I’d say he’s been the star of the team, I will give credit to someone for this, Ellis and whomever is coaching him.

Burnett – I feel like this guy is an every down player, but maybe he is too small for our scheme, he’s a hell of a pass defender, why couldn’t he be 20 pounds lighter and play safety! Oh yeah, because he was a hoss LB at Tennessee.

Does it disturb anyone else that half of Denver’s D line was here and now they are successful? I think Ekuban has more sacks than anyone on our team…

Offensively, other than the lineman that we consistently miss on (please fire Sparano, maybe he’s a good coach but he’s not working here), we haven’t had too much talent on this side to develop in terms of top draft picks. This is the entire reason our team sucks. Give us a decent o-line and you’d see a hell of a better Defense.

Finally, our biggest star development wise has been none other than Matt Mcbriar. He’s a bad man when it comes to punting the ball…

What do you all think?

You make some good points, but I think that is the delimna for most teams. Sometimes players don't develop into what is thought that they will...

I will offer Witten, Julius and Gurode (at least this year)...

My biggest concern is what we have NOT developed on the oline...

Gurode out of college was not a project...expected to be a starter, Flo is underacheiving, Rivera is far from pro-bowl status he once enjoyed...

Again...what have our oline coaches done for us in years???
