The only players I would really like to see us upgrade are:

Tyson Thompson - The guy is NOT a RB and is nothing more than a STs guy who doesn't break many big runs. He has straight ahead speed but no cutting ability.

Brad Johnson - Someone else brought up that we should have kept Matt Moore and I agree. I was advocating that before we let him go last year and was very disappointed that we kept the older guy with zero upside rather than the young guy with lots of promise. Moore played very well for the Panthers this season and will probably take the starting job from Delhomme before long. I have zero confidence that Brad could step in if Romo went down and I'd like to see us bring in a younger player who could.

Akin Ayodele - Ayodele did an OK job for us and I don't dislike the guy but we need a playmaker at that position and I am glad that we brought in Zach Thomas as a probable replacement, at least for this year. I would still like to see Burnett or one of the other young LBs step up and take over that spot.

That's it for me. We did go 13-3 last season and have a very solid group of starting players on both sides of the ball but need better depth at a number of positions, particularly: DB, WR, RB, & QB.

Wow .. will everyone stop with the roy *****ing? Please dear God make it end. He is vastly over paid yes, but while he is making 90+ tackles in the season beating out the likes of Bradie James and Demarcus Ware in both solo and assisted we aren't going to find anyone to fill that gap too easily.

The Roy bashing will never end...

The main problem with Roy Williams is that he has not lived up to expectations. We all expected him to be a superstar SS and he isn't. He is very good but that isn't what we all wanted from him, nor is it what he is being paid for.

He doesn't suck, he just doesn't meet our expectations.

the problem is he's not "very good" anymore... What does he excel at?

ALSO with the other holes we have slowly opening wider, why create another gap? I don't see the point in beating the dead equine every chance we get as well.

To summerize:

Roy = Overpaid, but stable. Not amazing, but not easily replaced.

So ...

I would say I'd like to give Ayodele a lesser role, and reducing T.Glenn's as well if he returns. Which means we will be trying out the young guys, as well as stirring up the bottom of our roster at RB, CB and WR. (T.T. being let go was a huge start)

It isn't just that he is overpaid, he is. It is that he is a liability in pass coverage. The NFL is a passing league and I don't care if he makes twice as many tackles if he keeps getting burned by every TE in the league and can't play a deep pass. The problem is you can't trade him because nobody wants him and you can't cut him because it would be too big of a cap hit.

I'll take exactly no one with any significant playing time cut. Their cap hits would be too great and I'd rather not endure that just to see a few fans happy that certain players are not on the team anymore.

man...the Roy defenders continue to amaze me:

"Roy = Overpaid, but stable. Not amazing, but not easily replaced."

Roy is so poor in coverage that opponents game plan for it, and lately he's picked up the nasty habit of taking poor angles and misses key tackles, plus he has such a great attitude in terms of taking personal responsibility for his cruddy play - but he's "not easily replaced" ?

I guess the rest of us and Dave Campo are missing what you guys are seeing.

Roy was the reason Dallas lost 4 games last season. Each team(Pats, Eagles, Commanders, Giants) game planned strictly to take advantage of Roy and it worked every time. If anyone, including Keith Davis played in those games instead of Roy, Dallas would have won them.

OK, I will take your word that coaches sit down and game-plan on how to take advantage of RW, but please go ahead and name me the shut-down SS in the NFL. This is a team game in case you have missed this fact when you were too busy sticking needles in RW voodoo doll. Teams with good or great pass rushing tend to have a better secondary than those with an average or bad D line that can't put pressure on QBs. Surprise surprise!!

Maybe I do. Maybe I am still drunk from last night. Maybe it is just the off season. Maybe it is Friday of a long work week. Maybe the constant Roy bashing has caused me to see the light. Maybe I don't.
