I will start it off by saying LT. The offensive line sets up everything for the offense. If your line isn't blocking, LT isn't running. If the line isn't protecting, Manning can't throw from his back. If the line doesn't pick up the blitz, Smith isn't beating the CB deep.

QB is THE most important, by far............

I agree other than the QB spot the guy protecting his blind side ranks high in terms of importance to the offense. Poor play from that spot can lead to some big hits on the QB and fumbles

Reading is fundamental....

The question says...

What position OTHER THAN qb is most important?

That said... For this year, I go with the NT. Fergie goes down and we're in deep doo-doo.

I would LT or DE. 2 positions Dallas has been pretty average at for a while now.

I will agree with LT unless the QB is left handed and then I wil say RT. The guy protecting the QBs blindside is critical.

He's on auto-troll, WG.

You can't stop it.

LT is a decent choice, but I also think RB might be a good choice. Aside from the QB, he's going to have the biggest offensive effect on the game. The 49ers offensive line is atrocious, look like they are clueless out there - Frank Gore willed them to a decent showing this year.

I'd also say MLB/ILB is a pretty important position - if in your particular defense they act as QB. Having one with an excellent diagnostic mind can be invaluable.

LT is definitely up there... But why LT? Because he blocks the team's best passrusher. So passrushing DE (43) or OLB (34) has to be up there somewhere.

RB is the second most important.. They can single-handedly take over a game, or they can single-handedly cripple your offense into becoming one dimensional.. They touch the ball the second most behind the QB (a lot of times more than the QB if you just count the QB's passes), and on the plays that they don't touch the ball, they are picking up the blitz or going out for a pass..

Mine after QB is LT, passrusher (can be a DL or LB), CB, DT or NT, RT, C, the other CB, WR, RB, LB, G, S.

This can vary because of where your production is coming from and who the player is. Urlacher for example I would rate a lot higher because he is so good in pass coverage he stays in on passing downs where a lot of LBers come out on third and fourth downs.

I rated passrusher right after pass protector because the NFL is a passing league and one protects the most valuable player and one is trying to take him down.

CB because a good one can take his half of the field and force the offense to go the other way and that allows the defense to help the number 2 CB.

DT or NT because disrupting the offensive line is so important.

RT, C, because they make everything else work.

WR and RB I ranked down a ways because I believe a good OL can make average rb's and WR's look good.

LBers because there are so many good ones that it is easier to find them than the other positions.

Safety for the same reason as above.

Guards (despite this free agency period) are generally the easiest spot on the OL to fill.

Waterboy, high quality H2O keeps the team on the go.:)

Either that or a good pash rusher, be it a linebacker or end.

After the QB position I'd go with a tie between LT and a pass-rushing DE.

I'd even go so far to say that superior line play (offense and defense) is more important than superior quarterback play, but since it's ONE position we're rating obviously one QB can do more than one OL or one DL.

If forced to choose, I'd pick an all-world RB over an all-world LT.

But I'd rather have a bit above average LT and a poor RB than the opposite (an above average RB and poor LT).

RB, easily. A RB controls the temple of the game. A RB dictates whether a defense will respect the run or work to close down the pass. A RB is often the last line standing between a rabid linebacker on a blitz and the QB seeing stars. He goes out for passes. He can be the leader. He even re-styles the coaches freakin hair after a super bowl win if he's good enough! And in the end, if you want to talk about visibility as far as a position goes, RB is right up there in the top 3, if not top 2.

Next I would say a true-shutdown CB to take away half the field.

DT in the trenches.

Left tackle after quarterback. Not only is that player the cornerstone of pass protection, but also a go-to guy to run behind on third/fourth and short. Running off-tackle is crucial in a ball-control offense.

As for offensive tackles in general, the good ones rarely make it to market. The great ones never do. Only after they're used up and done do they see the light of day, or they're out of football.

High quality bookends are tough to get. Teams typically do whatever they can to keep them.

...the place kicker.:D

This one was for Hos.

If he's not eligible, then I would have to say RB.
