What Really Cost Us the Game

people want to say it was our blown opportunities or Murrays fumble or any number of other plays that they point the finger at which allows them to not be upset over the real reason we lost the game.

The Ref's call on Dez's 4th and 2 catch...

People need to realize this is the NFL where every game is a close game. In every game both teams can look back on blown opportunities. This is what happens in the NFL. Almost every game is close. Rarely does a team play a perfect game against a good opponent.

Tony Romo did a great job to put us on the goal line with 4 minutes left in the game.
Dez did an amazing job of catching that ball and making a football move towards to end zone.

The ref took this game from us.
I don't know if this hurts more because it happened to us or if it hurts more that we witnessed the degrading and cheapening of the sport today. The NFL is supposed to be entertaining. Part of this entertaining is having a fair and balanced product where fans can get excited in the offseason for the upcoming season. The hype is huge for us fans. Having something like this succeeds in turning people away from having an emotional investment in such a flawed product. It's become a sad joke these days. The league wanted teams to all be competitive and they pushed for parity. Well when most teams are about the same in talent you will have most games come down to the end of the game and then you get this result.

The league needs to stop paying Roger Goodell 22 million per year when they pay the Ref's 2k per game. In the world of parity the game needs to be in the hands of more professional refs.

Today this form of entertainment made my 5 year old cry. I was holding him when he was crying and wondering why I was getting him involved with such a flawed product that will be certain to cause him the same frustration in his life that it has caused in so many of ours.

we held the packers to 26 points...they average 40 per game...the defense played great.

I personally think the 2nd quarter 3rd and 1 hurt us more than we realize.

But we weren't getting any pressure on Rodgers. So even if we make the 3rd and 1, Rodgers gets the ball. And we showed no ability to get to a hobbled Rodgers.

The defense, while it played way above its head, let us down because we couldn't sack Rodgers. That's where we need to improve. We need a pass rusher who can get to the quarterback, or a tackle who can get pressure up the middle. Rodgers simply skipped up in the pocket even when we got some bodies around him on the end.

If we make the 3rd and 1....they don't get the ball back. It would've took something miraculous to happen.

He's talking about the end of the 1st half. If we convert on that 3rd Down I don't think Rodgers gets the ball back that half

If we make the 3 and 1, we at the least go up 17-7. Maybe, it's 24-7. But we really don't know what would have happened. Even so, Rodgers is on one leg, and we STILL can't get him to the ground. Rodgers looked like he could have passed all over us. I don't know if he's not going to just drive down the field like he did even in a close game.

Great? Ummm....no. Well enough to win if Murray didn't fumble, Bailey made FG, and Dez call not blown? Probably.

Too many plays left to blame the catch reversal. Dallas couldn't stop GB from picking up the game clinching 1st down. I agree with most of the posters here, the lack of pass Rush made all the difference today. A gimpy Rogers never really needed to move out of the pocket. He did just enough when needed....

Being w/o melton and McClain hurt.

We have like 4 above average players on defense? Craw, carter, melton and McClain. Being down 2 of the 4 hurt. I would add hitchens as well. So 5

Then you understand that a conversion there most likely would have meant that he would not have gotten the ball

I understand. But even if we score just a field goal, we're up 17-7. And the Packers get the ball to start the second half. And Rodgers is still passing. And we're not putting him on the ground. That's my point. We went up 21-13. We changed momentum. And we still can't get a hobbled Rodgers to the ground.

This team needs a pass rusher or a DT who can give consistent push up the middle in the worst way. This defense played well all season long. But it wasn't a Super Bowl-type defense.

Oh I absolutely agree with everything you said. Doesn't take away from how huge failing to convert there was, though

Yeah. I was thinking about the Indy-Denver game. It was almost the same scenario and ended 14-10 at the half. Then Indy scores and moves up 21-10. That margin was enough for Indy. It may have been enough for the Cowboys. But who knows. I just didn't like the fact we couldn't take Rodgers to the ground. I'm highly disgusted with THAT more than the no catch call.
