the system chip kellyu brought has been in the NFLa while, except it was bette executed. Bills did it on their way to 4 straight superbowls....they had a tough defense and tough offense with Thurman and a great OL and physical WRs. Cinci had it a while on their way to two superbowls which they lost to SF. that fast pace, hurry up offense. they had a great OL, tough defense and lost to one of the all time greatest teams, coaches, WRs, and QBs. Houston Oilers ran the fast pace run and shoot offense for several years, scored a ton of points and never could stop anybody nor stay on the field long enough to give their defense a rest.

the NFL comes down to 4th quarter most of the time. you don't win in the first quarter or first half. you win in the 4th quarter, given most games are close and within reach. that's when a rested defense can attack an offense and create turnovers and sacks, while a tired defense gets run over.

so this bullshiet with Kelly introducing new things to the NFL is all bull crap the media creates. Kelly hasn't introduced anything that hasn't been tried already. He could pull this bull crap in college given the level of talent, but all NFL players are talented, including the 53rd guy on the team who probably was a star on his college team. Give DC enough time and they will tear apart your system and that's what we have seen. its a simple formula that works in the NFL. defense, balanced offense or incredibly talented offense that you can be either mostly running or passing (ala brady, manning or Rodgers). outside of that no system works without having talent and right now they are feeling it that with his QBs and average WRs and his system he is shooting himself in the foot and losing games in the 4th quarter.

Kelly has come and gone in his second year.

Good post. But the Bills team of all did not run the same style as what Phili does. They did play hurry up but much more controlled and knew when to slow things down if they had to. Phili's offense is nothing more than a frantic hurry up. Its like a Chinese fire drill in which they seem to try and catch the defense off guard. As for the Oilers offense of old. The run and shoot didn't really need to huddle up that much since it was nothing more than the same formation with variations of plays from that formation. Thus they got plays off in a hurry.

Those offenses worked well because they still had a sense of control to them and knew when to slow things down and change things up if needed. Phili's offense is going full speed ahead and has a frantic pace. Thus you not only see the defense tired but also the offense in the 4th quarter. Therefore, its a system prone to mistakes. Thats why you see Foles was leading the league in turnovers. Garcia is also climbing up the scale in turnovers.

I hope they continue with that system. It will only benefit the Cowboys and the rest of the league that plays the Eagles.

I agree with your assessment of the bills. they could go hurry up, they could run traditional NFL football, they could pass, or run. that was a great team that ran into a bunch of other great teams in superbowls. so in essence they had perfected it.

Kelly's offense won't work if he slows things down and runs it traditionally. his only ammo is I need to run plays every 15 seconds or the team is in trouble. which it has been lately.
