What scouts say about Conley. could Jerry pick early?

From McGinn's report (he consults extensively with scouts). The rape report seems unlike the kid. Could Jerry take a chance early if he gets good info from his private investigators? This is the type of Jaylon Smith situation where Jerry being GM/owner is a potential benefit. He can take a chance because he won't be fired.

3. GAREON CONLEY, Ohio State (6-0, 194, 4.46, 1): Third-year junior with 26 starts in 41 games. “Really a tremendous tester,” a third scout said. “Great character kid. We prefer Conley over Lattimore just a little bit. Little bit smoother.” Longest arms (33 inches) of the top CBs, a 37-inch vertical jump and a swift 40. “Everybody loves the kid,” said a second scout. “Really a good teammate. Leader of the group. Makes it looks easy. Good in press man. Short-area burst. Likes to jump routes. He can track the ball deep.” Finished with 91 tackles, 6 picks and 15 PBUs. “He’s functional enough,” a third scout said. “Not going to be a Pro Bowler or your No. 1 guy. He’ll be a really good complementary starter.” Wonderlic of 17. From Massillon, Ohio.

If you mean 4th round early....maybe so.
But by then Conley's agent may be telling people not to bother, that he'll wait for UDFA.

It will be an ownership decision regardless no matter where he goes if he is drafted.

But the difference here is not the same as Jaylon Smith or even Collins for that matter.

Jones likes publicity as it creates relevance, but he thrives more on his ability to sell hope.

It is hard to sell that when there is likely to be a moral outrage backlash. There would be fans of the team plucking out their own eyes with rusty spoons if he took even an accused rapist, much less the media at large.

How they slowly backed away from Hardy when the pictures came out tells me they are not comfortable or equipped to deal with that special kind of publicity.

Wearing a black hat and basically flipping off the average fan is not in the script.

No way you take a chance on the guy if he has not been cleared of rape...........Jerry cannot have an accused rapist wearing the star, the team took enough flak with the Hardy fiasco.

I take him off the draft board unless the police totally clear him by Thursday.

How many times can you remember Jerry Jones saying the word "opportunity"?

I don't doubt for a second that the opportunity to get arguably the top corner in the draft at a huge discount is not being thoroughly examined.

You cannot draft him in the first round, until you find out what happened. Period

They have the resources to find out what happened.

The Cowboys must find out whats going on because this was the best player that we could realistically get besides maybe Reuben Foster.

Sources close to Conley tell ESPN's Adam Schefter that they have statements from three witnesses -- two male, one female -- who say Conley was never alone with the accuser and that he did nothing wrong. Two of the witnesses did not know Conley, according to the sources, who added that the information has been shared with NFL teams.

According to a police report obtained by ESPN, the alleged incident occurred April 9. A 23-year-old woman told police she met Conley in the elevator of the downtown hotel and he brought her back to his hotel room. She alleges that after she declined an offer of group sex with Conley and two friends, Conley had sex with her, then kicked her out of the room.

The woman reported the incident and then went to a local hospital, where a rape kit was administered. But the woman also refused to speak to police, according to the report.

I don't want to downplay the significance of this crime if it did occur, or the victim if there in fact was one. But at face value, this absolutely stinks of a false report by an opportunist. Between the timing and multiple witnesses, the evidence looks clearly in the player's favor. However this turns out, whoever is lying needs to go to jail. That's justice.

Whats stinks is we are the 1 team that will get harped on for 2 weeks if we take a player like this even if they find out later that nothing happened.

Imagine our first 2 picks were Foster and Conley... Then we get a healthy Jaylon Smith back. The turnaround could be lightning quick for this defense.

If the team knows its facts, I'll gladly take the heat from the clueless clowns of the media. And after it's all said and done, I'll gladly take another great player at a huge discount just like we did with Collins.

I'd bank on him not being drafted. Once cleared the Cowboys have a great shot at being the frontrunner to get him.
