Am I missing something here? Or does it take a special kind of idiot to pay 12 bucks for a cup of coffee and a sweet roll?

We get free Starbucks at my complex. They put in a Starbucks kiosk for all the residents but I wouldn't pay those crazy prices. My girl has their app and it gives you free stuff once a week but yeah it's pricy lol

Several reasons for Starbucks' success...

Compared to other chains like Dunkin Donuts for instance, I think Starbucks is much more consistent making their products. I can go into D&D 3 times a week and get 3 coffee's that taste somewhat different.

Don't overlook the whole status thing with Starbucks. Many, rightfully or wrongfully, feel they look "more impressive to others" by holding that Starbucks' cup.

Finally I think Starbucks employees are more professional in how they go about doing their jobs than many others working for other coffee houses which makes for a better customer experience in general.

These people are insane.

That maybe, but from a marketing standpoint I know those people exist.

It's no different than the people that spend big money on a Mercedes Benz, Omaha Steaks or a Coach handbag.

For a large Starbucks it costs €3.40, little different to owning a Benz. I think the people considering it for status are students or in their early twenties. These are the age group fanning the pumpkin spice movement.

Yeah, I know. It's just funny to think people carrying a cup of something around is used for peacocking. Starbucks is the Mcdonalds of coffee and people are so ashamed to be seen eating that they just get drive through and gorge in the car park.

Starbucks prices depend on market, but a regular cup of coffee in NY (which I imagine is their pricier markets) is $2.75.

Starbucks has a lot of the same benefit as McDonalds, they make everything the same, consistently, around the world and people are particular about their coffee.

It's no great mystery, and that's coming from someone that doesn't like Starbucks.

I never had Starbucks until last xmas when I got a gift card from someone. Tried it and was very unimpressed, so they will continue to never get a dime from me. I'll stick with my Keurig machine or the cartons of already made iced coffee anyday.....

Serious question, what part of the country are you from because here on the west coast Starbuck's are a dime-a-dozen; there's no status symbol attached to them. In fact, in certain parts of town you'll see "homeless" people chillin' inside, camped-out using the free wi-fi? Right now, the big thing in coffee is Phil'z Coffee and Blue Bottle Coffee.

Here in NM, three seperate Starbucks were vandalized yesterday and it is being reported that suspicious devices were found. FBI and ATF are investigating now.

I don't get it either, my little crappy convienence store down the road is just as good, but I just take it black.
One thing I definitely don't get is pulling up to their drive through and its 8 cars deep waiting for a cup of coffee

I can't remember what show or movie I was watching where this was pointed out when talking about their burgers. The fact that no matter where you are a McDs burger will taste pretty much the same because of how they source and process their meat is really damn disgusting if you a put a little thought into it.
