Yesterday, all I read on this forum is Phillips is the next coach:
"It makes perfect sense to fix the defense and let Jason Garrett work with the offense and Sparano."
"Dumbest move JJ has ever made."
I'm out of town one day...I get back and all I read is that Norv is the next HC, though we're interviewing other guys even today:
"It makes perfect sense to tutor Jason Garrett."
"It's the dumbest move JJ has ever made."
I swear I've never seen such knee jerk pansies...lol...no real insult intended, fellas...just my reaction to what I'm seeing. I don't even see a single article that actually reports it...just media guys speculating.
I'm okay with Norv or Phillips....both bring something to the table. What I want to know is why some guys think Rivera is the saviour when he's simply running the defense that Lovie Smith designed and using the players Lovie put together...it's not like he's running the defense for an offensive minded HC. I also don't understand why guys would want a HC whose success is with the 4-3...do you want to spend the offseason, FA and the draft, making the few changes necessary? It wouldn't be a total overhaul, but changes would need to be made. We don't have a proven Tackle on the team right now besides Ferguson, and he's not going to get any pass rush for you.
I would personally go with Phillips, but if the idea that it was Parcells holding the defense back is true, then I'm sure some of the other guys can run the defense this year...if Jason Garrett isn't quite ready yet, or not proven enough for JJ, then Norv makes sense.
But I don't understand how the entire board swings totally one way or the other, day to day, on basically nothing.
Is there an actual article with anyone quoted that I'm missing?
