What the rest of this year should be about

The rest of the year should be about playing players and getting experience. After this week's loss or the one after, it's time to shake everything up. Milton in, slow learner blue, all the backups on the offensive line, and everybody that is on the bench on defense needs to play to see if they are worth keeping next year. We all know this won't happen, stat padder will play the rest of the way, and the backups will still be standing on the sidelines. shrugs,

LOL so much for having me on ignore. Anyhow, I will entertain you once again. I have hope for the future, which is all tied to seeing what young players we have in tow for the remainder of this year. Our 4% chance of even getting a sniff of the post-season is not enough to have me remain hopeful, but the upcoming picks and our young players do.

I have no idea what on earth makes you think there is adversity, and that I am crumbling, lol
Oh you’re still on ignore but that doesn’t prevent me from checking in from time to time to put you in your place because here you are being negative again which is what I told you and you got all butt hurt over.

Any Egotist cares about public opinion. Just because he values his opinion over ours, does not mean he hates criticism and a lack of praise. If you want to be quiet and timid about him sucking, suit yourself.
Oh, yes, Jery really cares about what a few average joes say about him on a 1980s tech message board. Enjoy living in a world of delusion.

Who said I was specifically talking about this message board. I like there to be a little noise at enough media points to at least cause some discomfort. Turn on the radio, and you can hear that Jerrah sucks. Watch some ESPN show and you can hear someone say Jerrah sucks as a GM. Read a sports article some, etc. It's better that there is a general consensus across the country that Jerrah is a bad GM, than people shrugging and staying silent because of their belief that it won't make a difference. Might not, but maybe the next owner might want to do things differently and at the very least, Jerrah gets to look like the fool that he is.

Can Dak take you to a SuperBowl?

Thats the single most important question. I dont think he can.

This offense is over rated. The first 4 games, they rolled out a new offense. Teams didnt have a grasp of what they were going to do. And we had a couple really bad teams we played.

Now, they know. And one read Dak has been figured out. The offense has been figured out. Schotty needs to up his game and get more creative. We need better from him.

To have a chance, they need to make the highest paid player in NFL history more of a bus driver. Build a strong defense and solidify the run game.

Adding Williams is a step. The upcoming draft should be all defense and a legit threat at RB. Safety, LB and Edge pass rusher.

FA should be used to get a vet Safety and a good vet LB. I wouldnt pay Pickens, but I would look to FA for a bonafide deep threat at WR.

Im excited to see Reval play. Everyone ranting that he was first round talent. If he shows that, then we should be ok at Corner. Especially with Butler coming back too.

So there is hope. But only if Dak and Schotty can step it up and perform in the big games. Can they?
Really good and accurate macro level post.
Great job.

LOL, thanks for putting me in my place...which by the way lives inside of your head. Next time I post something "negative" I will be sure to take this into consideration

If Kellen “The Hammer” Moore didn’t break his leg in preseason, Jerry never would have given Dak any regular season reps. Injuries seem to be the only scenario where we get to find out if he have any quality players at the 2nd level.
I know. It sucks. I don’t want Dak to get hurt because I don’t wish injury on anyone but if we’re out of playoff contention and Dak tweaks his ankle and has to miss a game or two that would be beneficial. In this lost season I’d rather have Dak get injured and Milton get reps as opposed to next season when we’re playing good and Milton is forced into action and he’s an unknown.

With Dak’s injury history and the amount of money we got invested in him I personally feel it’s foolish to have him play meaningless games at the end of a lost season. What if we’re in New York the last game of the season and Dak rips his ACL or tears an Achilles. I know Jerry doesn’t see it that way and sometimes I don’t understand that. But if we’re out of playoff contention I see no need to play Lamb, Dak, Tyler and some of the other big money guys.

On more point on this. Last season Jerry benched Rush so he wouldn’t have to pay him a 500K bonus but doesn’t see how resting Dak would save him millions and we get to see what Milton is. Doesn’t make sense.

I totally agree with @Bobhaze on what the rest of this season should be about. Figuring out who fits with our recent trade additions and who does not, should be a priority. Cutting the latter will help immensely in expediting the Cowboys recovery to greatness.

Milton is hot garbage. Accept that.

You don't put anyone in their place. Not even close. On here, you're the annoying little gnat that flies into eyes, ears, and mouth.

With approximately 54% of the season completed for the Cowboys, they sit near the bottom of the NFC and have extremely long odds to make the playoffs. The Cowboys have been burdened with another poorly constructed defensive roster, a rookie HC trying to find some traction and the heart-breaking experience of losing a teammate in tragic circumstances. It’s been a rough half of the 2025 season.

So what should the rest of the 2025 season be about and what can we realistically expect from this team moving forward? If I were in charge I would focus on the following:
  • Determine what you want this team to be, then find out who can help get us there and maybe more importantly, who cannot.
  • Start with aggressively figuring out who and what to build this team around for the future. Play young guys who maybe aren’t ready to start yet but need playing time to develop.
  • NOW is the time to develop young players. Find out who can play and who can’t. Be like Jimmy was back in 1989-90. Churn the roster hard.
  • With the new trade addition of Q Williams, find out what combo of defensive players best compliment his skills.
  • By the end of this season, our coaches and FO should be in agreement on who needs to go and who stays. Even if that means trading or cutting some guys who are highly paid.
This 2025 Cowboys roster is not a playoff team. So spend the rest of this season finding out who is worth keeping and who isn’t. Stop keeping so many of the same guys who aren’t getting us anywhere.

The first step in becoming a great team is recognizing that you are currently not close to being great. Our FO needs to stop pretending this is a really good roster who has been “unlucky”. It’s not unlucky. It’s not talented enough.
What if their not pretending?
What if they really believe we are a good team and Jerry Jack Daniels Jones believes he just made the equivalent to the Hershel Walker trade. Oh Lordy.

How do you know?
I have optical nerves connected to a functioning brain. The ome read and go running QB schtick not work. We have seen it countless times before.

Rolling pocket to one side, make one or two half arse reads then bolt. Same ol' bullfeces that never works.

Only excwption is what the Eagles did with Jalen, but that is because their overall team talent was undeniable thanks to the best GM in the league and a good coach.

Dallas is a complete opposite of that scenario.

I agree with all of this, but don't think you obtain any of this if you just give up on this season. Until we are mathmatically eliminated, we should never just give up on a season. This is the NFL, and things can change in a flash. When we were healthy, we almost beat the Eagles and tied Green Bay. I get it. This is the Cowboys, and they always let us down, however I maybe in rare company, but I believe in Shotty, and the players seem to love him and will play for him. We got new players and have gotten a bit healthier. I for one would like to see this play out, before I give up on this team. I gave up on this team last year when Dak went down. This year we still have pieces to turn it around. Parcells always said, you judge a team in November, so this year I will at least wait till December to completely give up on them.

He’s only played in 3 games. You got all this with watching him in 3 games? I’m not convinced he’s good and I’m not convinced he’s trash because he hasn’t played enough. I would like the Cowboys to convince me one way or another by letting him play 2 or 3 regular season games in this lost season. I’d like to see a game plan based around him and him getting all the 1st team reps in practice and then start for a couple weeks before I lay down a blanket statement of him being garbage.

Aside from the delusional ones on here who think we actually have the slightest of hope for the playoffs, we needed to see what our young guys can do from Week 1. The only exception to this is Overshown, as I want no part of him seeing the field this year, and only bad can come of this, as we know what he can do. For anybody to say seeing what the future holds is giving up on this season, they will be the ones who complain early next year when there is no cohesion on both sides of the ball, and blame it on lack of practice time in TC
A double like for the Overshown comment. we DO know he's a keeper if healthy. Start fresh NEXT year. No good reason to play him now.

He’s certainly still making money, but the seats are not filled. The games may be official sellouts, but there were a significant number of open seats and shorter concession lines at the Cardinals game. I expect that to be the case the rest of this year other than the Thanksgiving game.
He is still getting the revenue for those seats, which is what matters to him IF he's not delusional.
