What the rest of this year should be about

You know this, the majority on this forum know this.

However, i don't think Jerry knows this. I think he still beleives the Cowboys are contenders with a poor start to the season.

Why would he make these trades if he thought the Cowboys didn't have a good chance of still making the playoffs?

Jerry could very well be that delusional.

Even losses to teams like the Cardinals, Panthers and Bears have not forced Jerry to accept reality.

Hopefully the pending loss to the pathetic Raiders will sober him up.
Jerry is not delusional. The Jones do not think, nor do they care much that the team is not good enough to make the playoffs. They push all their chips in to try to be in the playoff conversation-praying the team never has a season like the Titans or Jets this year. That’s it. That’s the goal. It has been so for decades now. They would love a SB. That is not the goal of this franchise currently. And it is extremely unlikely that the Cowboys lose to the Raiders. They are much worse than the three teams you mentioned.

How are the 1st three players doing this year? EZ is doing better that they are and he went around 44.
You only have one example? I can bring up piles of answers that show that it's better picking at 10 than at 20.

Honestly, this is one of the strangest conversations I've ever had. Even the idea that picking later in the draft is the same is so strange that it cannot be processed.

So, where'd you get this idea from? I'm honestly curious.

Some of us don’t give up so easily. Some like yourself Give up immediately. Can’t handle adversity. When under going gets tough you crumble.
Lol, what a tool. No one gave up easily. We are fans and do not play for or are employed by the team. Quit taking your fandom so seriously. Success is not always achieved by emptying the bucket and dying on the hill you are standing on. If the country’s great generals of the past operated that way-this country would be under British rule and whoever else purchased the lands.

Great parallel.

I find it so strange that so many would rather win one game than contend for a title in future years. Doesn't make sense to me.

Just playing ball. Giving it our all, good effort, relaxed, nothing to lose attitude is what I want to see in our play from here on out.

I'm the most interested in kids learning to play. EZ, for example. Dude has the potential to be top 10. Guyton is getting better. And I believe that Shamar James and Luifi will be better w/ a field general like Wilson in the middle.

Their fan life is on a game by game perspective. There is nothing past that game nor games behind (unless they were successful games). They do not like the feeling of objectively weighing the good and bad together. It hurts them emotionally and irrationally when the team loses games. Even if that would be the expected outcome based on team strengths and weaknesses. They also do not like looking ahead with that same objectivity. Many of them are somehow convinced that extending/building around a Dak Prescott meant better things than beating the crap out of teams like the Jets. When you don’t aim for the bullseye you can hit the board anyway most of the time. It’s not guaranteed though-last season was a disaster. This season looks worse. But the arrow is pointing up-lol.

You have up on the season no matter how you spin it to yourself to make you feel better.

These types would not have made the Walker trade.

Let's see, 3-5-1 w/ the worst D in the NFL. If someone wants to think we're going nowhere this year, objectively it makes sense.

You’re blinded by your hate. There will be at least 4 new starters and possible more on defense. And they don’t have the worst defense in the NFL. Get some glasses.

With approximately 54% of the season completed for the Cowboys, they sit near the bottom of the NFC and have extremely long odds to make the playoffs. The Cowboys have been burdened with another poorly constructed defensive roster, a rookie HC trying to find some traction and the heart-breaking experience of losing a teammate in tragic circumstances. It’s been a rough half of the 2025 season.

So what should the rest of the 2025 season be about and what can we realistically expect from this team moving forward? If I were in charge I would focus on the following:
  • Determine what you want this team to be, then find out who can help get us there and maybe more importantly, who cannot.
  • Start with aggressively figuring out who and what to build this team around for the future. Play young guys who maybe aren’t ready to start yet but need playing time to develop.
  • NOW is the time to develop young players. Find out who can play and who can’t. Be like Jimmy was back in 1989-90. Churn the roster hard.
  • With the new trade addition of Q Williams, find out what combo of defensive players best compliment his skills.
  • By the end of this season, our coaches and FO should be in agreement on who needs to go and who stays. Even if that means trading or cutting some guys who are highly paid.
This 2025 Cowboys roster is not a playoff team. So spend the rest of this season finding out who is worth keeping and who isn’t. Stop keeping so many of the same guys who aren’t getting us anywhere.

The first step in becoming a great team is recognizing that you are currently not close to being great. Our FO needs to stop pretending this is a really good roster who has been “unlucky”. It’s not unlucky. It’s not talented enough.
WINNING

The rest of the year should be about stock piling dubs and going all the way!

Leggo Cowboys

There's that childish word again. You are blinded by your lack of mental acuity.

Cowboys are 31st on D. The "get some glasses" comment is so far off base that even you should be embarrassed. Oh, sorry, it takes a bit of self awareness to even feel that, so being embarrassed isn't available to you.

And if I'm wrong, you would be able to show me that you can post w/o flinging cheap, childish insults.

"...Extremely unlikely the Cowboys will lose to the Raiders..."

It is not extremely unlikely....it is not reasonably unlikely.....it's not even unlikely.

It is very, very possible. I don't want it to happen. I would rather the Cowboys win convincingly than be right.

However, I cannot ignore the direction this team is trending.

This Monday night game could be a spark or it could render the rest of the season irrelevant.

The only difference between the Raiders and the Cardinals is the Raiders haven't played the Cowboys yet.
