What this teams lacks the most

We lack imagination and innovation. We approach every game with the "take what they give you" mentality not the "impose your will" mentality. If we need 4 yards we pass for two. We play conservatively on both sides of the ball, but this year the takeaways are not there. Even when we need a spark we will run on first down for no yards. We have an antiquated approach in an evolving league.

Dallas has an offensive line that seems to read and buy into too much of their 'best o-line in football' pub - while falling far short of that mark. But it's mainly the defensive secondary... that unit gives up way too many third-and-long passes. They're a bunch of bad-angle poor-tackling 'chasers'. The pre-season loss of Scandrick was a killer.

My vote goes for a real 1-Tech...

We haven't drafted many skill positions early in the draft. Since most teams covet speed, it goes early.

We have been able to clean up on the OL and DE but we need to invest in some top speed RBs and WRs on O and some CBs and LBs on D, either in the draft or FA.

We really need one in the worst way especially one that can at the very least stop the run. That's the biggest hole defensively besides our average safeties. Don't know what the coaches see in Hayden. One of the worst players on the team in terms of talent. As for offense, we really need a franchise RB and a true burner(Julio Jones/Desean Jackson type) at receiver that can stretch a defense and help take the pressure off Dez. We also need a QB. Romo cant be relied on anymore.

Here's my list:

1) QB
2) 1-Tech (We need 2)
3) FS
4) CB
4-A) MLB - our guys never play 16.
5) RB
6) RT
7) WR

Having said that I would still go BPA in any order they fall to us..

And your 2 speed weapons on offense, Dunbar is out and Butler has hamstring issues. That was our speed.

Is speed.

We are slow as molasses on Offense. No one can blow the top off the D. We have a bunch of athletic OL but they might be faster than Dez and Witten. Beasley and Lucky are quick, TWill and DStreet can't seperate. McFadden has decent top speed but a gust of wind knocks him off line.

No one on D lights it up either. Our LBs are maulers but they don't fly around. RGregory has some great explosion but that is different. If anyone in the secondary is really fast I have yet to see it. I know they take bad angles to make up for the lack of speed.

BCarter had the type of speed at SAM we need. A burner at CB or FS is a must. A WR4/KR needs to be a rocket.

The biggest pet peeve of mine is when people say Randle/McFadden/Turbin are change of pace RBs. No, they are interchangeable substitutes. Change of pace is someone FAST.

Its not the speed that matters. Its the playbook. When the defense knows the exact play your running it gives them the advantage.

Those INTs by Carolina were by design - not by accident. They would cheat as if they were doubling Bryant. Then they would fly right in the path of Witten's route in the middle when the ball is snapped. They knew exactly how to play our offense. Thats the fault of Garrett not being able to make changes to compensate Carolina's adjustment on defense.

That b.s. This O works with Romo. It doesn't with a backup.

Like just about every O in the league.

Execution means so much more than scheme

Romo makes so many presnap changes to this offense. Thus this proves the scheme doesn't work. Execution doesn't matter if the playbook is flawed.

Look around the league. That's what good QBs do. Read the defense and adjust. That's part of the scheme - understanding the defense and adjusting calls

That is why I liked last year's version better. It can vanilla if you can manhandle the D and wear them out.

By going to a RBBC it took our strength and make it average. Now we can't run over you or run by you.

I disagree.

The production last year was not maintainable and the production this year would've been towards the top if not the best in the league if we had Romo the entire time.

Also, we have a year of tendencies on tape for teams to look at.. If you and I know when and where Dallas is going to run then so do pro defensive coordinators.

Strategy is far and away what we lack the most.

Everything else is a distant 2nd.

Not arguing that there are good QBs that adjust. Thats supposed to be a given in the NFL.

However, our QB changes the plays more often than not because they just don't work. When was the last time our Coach or Off. Coordinator called anything different?

Size is another issue, simms went on and on about how big the carolina players are.
They also have speed and they hustle.
Our guys are slow ,small , and soft.

This is the biggest issue I have seen this year at least. Last year this defense was an absolute swarm. Everyone was 100% to the ball every play. This year you see guys standing around and watching, waiting for someone else to make a play and then getting caught with flat feet. Carr and Wilcox are two of the most guilty of this. This team just doesn't look like it plays as hard as it did last year. I don't know if it's the injuries or what, but we have been out hustled just about every week, including the games we have won. Even the Dolphins looked like they were playing harder.

I agree they lack speed. WR'S especially.

Change of pace doesn't necessarily mean fast, it just means change of pace. Could be slower. Semantics.

Jerry Rice wasn't a burner, but Walsh knew how to get him open for RAC. Our guys are still running their routes in the time that Rice was gaining RAC....
