There's a third option.Keep him and have him backup Prescott.

Personally, if we aren't getting anything back for him (assuming his cap number isn't crippling), I don't see the point in cutting him loose.

cut him or if you have someone dumb enough to trade for him, then trade him. he shouldnt be on this team next year as dak shouldnt be looking over his shoulder.

Don't think Dak is concerned at all. His salary is too high to be a backup so I suspect he will be traded or cut. Hopefully traded but you need s couple teams wanting him to get anything

Lets wait until after the season before making any final judgements, but unless they get a high pick for him they should keep him. I dont think there is a big cap benefit to releasing him until 2018.

The Cowboys have already said Dak is both the present and the future, so trade him to the AFC. Tony promised to be good, but no way will he accept coming to training camp knowing he's going to be sitting on the bench no matter how good he plays.

That's one expensive backup QB.

Yup, and I believe we actually save a fair bit of money if we release him – which is why I said if his cap number isn't crippling. I'm not worried about Jerry saving money.

No team with good sense would trade more than a bag of footballs and some leaky water bottles for him...

There is a forth option. Wait and see what happens. If the Cowboys make it to the NFC Championship game or even, omg, the SB, with Dak as QB, obviously Romo's days as the starting QB for the Cowboys are over.

But consider. If the Cowboys go 15-1. 13-3. 12-4. 14-2. Whatever. And are one and done in the playoffs. Well then. That would be a different story. Now wouldn't it? Especially if Dak has a horrible game in his first playoff appearance.

You see. We just don't know what will happen. Why not wait until we see what actually does happen, until we kick someone to the curb?

Especially someone of Romo's proven caliber?

I know that's not the sexy pick. But it works. All this prognostication stuff? Doesn't impress me.

Obviously Romo's cap is prohibitive, plus the team needs cap space for more big contract extensions
coming up. Romo is the past

I'm sure Romo will make the best decision possible for the future of the Dallas Cowboys.

Of that much, I have always been sure. I don't think you need to worry.
