What should we do with Romo in 2017

I am dreaming, but would Romo ever consider a pay reduction to remain the backup in Dallas - and get a Superbowl there where he belongs?
- that would free up funds to add some defensive help and/or re-sign some of our own studs. PLUS - that gives Dallas a super deep QB stable - a probowler that can come in and spell Dak as needed (injury, sophmore jinx, regression, whatever....)....

What if no other team steps up to trade for him, or offer Romo big money. Is it worth further health risk for him to play somewhere else with significantly worse olines and supporting players to get killed in his late 30's?

His pride and ability is such he wants to be a starter, but he should try and get a ring in Dallas and if he took a paycut the odds for that would be way up!!!

If another team is willing to pay him big cash (and it is not like some contenders have a QB with the ability of Romo ...) then why wouldn't they trade a pick or two for a 1 - 2 year window with a veteran QB who could be a big upgrade over what they have now? For that position I would suspect some team would trade a mid-round pick at the least.

As much as I don't think Dak will be a one year wonder or regress (he is too mature and level a personality) I hate the idea of not having Romo for at least one more full year (next season I mean) as a back-up and insurance plan. I think we have Super Bowl aspiration for this year and next if we can add some pass rush!!!

I just hope Romo doesn't want to jump ship from the best chance he might have, and get physically killed even more somewhere else?

How much would his base salary get shaved down to make it make sense for him to stay (I don't think the bonus can be renegotiated, lol).....?

Yeah, call me an idealist and dreamer, but I want Romo to get his ring in Dallas, even if he isn't the starter for the majority of the run. BUT this is a young team in many spots now, and with D help, could be strong for a good, long window.

BUT, the silly dilema is that if you cut or trade Romo, there isn't much cash to get the players to push you over the top if you don't hit in the draft again! And we hit this year, that doesn't always happen as we obviously have seen in last 2 decades around here.. This draft was amazing - and our 2nd rounder still gives me big hope. Does cutting Romo push the window back a year or two though?! And then Witten and Sean Lee are that much older, even Dez?......
