On a scale from 1-10? I was looking at him working out with some of the other defenders the other day, the guy is RIPPED!! He's a hard worker in the weight room, seems to be a high character guy. Based on his production what rating would you give him. He seems to make that one big TFL every game, and then he seems to go quiet.

Now hear me CZ faithful, I said quiet, not that he's terrible, doesn't deserve his money, he's a bust, etc etc! So this isn't me bashing him, just want to know how you feel! Please give your thoughts (you haven't heard that in a while!)

Osa is a very solid 3-tech asked to be a stud 3-tech. He may never be an Aaron Donald or Chris Jones, but that shouldn't be held against him. It should be held against the front office that doesn't seem to fully understand the value of DTs. 3-tech is supposed to be the engine that drives many versions of the 4-3 defense, including this one. A disruptive player there makes the other dominoes fall.

Odig shouldn't be bashed because he's not a bad player at all. He gets knocked because he's just not at the level you need for that 3-tech spot. He doesn't get that consistent disruption that forces offenses to double him and opens up opportunities for the other players. Parsons is the only player we have right now who does that.

Love your second paragraph!!!!

...I would give Osa a 6, with room for improvement to 7. Im glad they extended him.

not worth what we are paying him but it was pretty much market price so it is what it is. He needs to reach the next level to be worth it.
we shall see

I'd prefer he was a rotation piece at considerably less of the cap.

The Best one we have.

I'd say a 6 and I think he can be an 8 potentially. I think he was paid accordingly.

I put him at above average, somewhere around the 6.5-7 area.

Osa isn't an elite star, he's one of those dependable veterans that every team needs.

A good team should have about a dozen starters like that.

I put him in the Jethro Push/Jimmy Jones range.

no way would I ever put him with Jethro Pugh

Could Osa be more in that Grady Jarrett, Geno Atkins or Kyle Williams comparison era ? ..Grady Jarrett type is what i was hoping he has some quickness traits,
but he won't be Chris Jones type dominant.

- Not a type DT where teams have to double team, scheme block and game plan for him .
But i agree he is an above average DT, and even above average 3 techs are still so very hard to find. If you get one, you sign him long term for life.

- I just did not know the Cowboys thought enuff of Osa that they'd re-sign him him a long term ..or if they thought they could replace him in the draft .
in fact i was very surprised Cap Boy & co, did indeed re-signed him.

Imo, ..Osa has gap penetrating skills, and his game is quickness, but i always had issues with his ability to play the run, and he tend to wear down the later the season continue ..especially at season's end. If kept fresh as possible, i think he will always be a 5-6 sack interior guy and one who accumulates many QB hurries.

There is a thread asking who our next Pro Bowl player. I'm going with OSA, he has been solid the last couple of years. I think he could take it to another level this season as one of league's best DT

As for OP question......I think he's a solid 7

until his fateful unfortunate knee injury, i had LB Overshown pegged as the next incoming pro bowl defensive player for us.. but that's clearly out of the water now.

in fact, even he manages to return to the field, would he ever be the same, previous player ..and I have major concerns about his durability now.

Otherwise it could come down to Osa & LB Marist Liufau as the possible next future pro bowlers on the defensive side. ..
