What would you rather have

Would you rather have a bad team. And then watch them win things they shouldn't.. would you rather have a great team. And watch them lose games they should win. Personally I'd rather suck and then win. So I don't get let down. Garrett should be gone yesterday. It all starts with coaching. You can make a bad player good. Are you can make a good player bad. So frustrated I could spit nails.
I'd rather have a bottle of Scotch!!

My preference would be to have a team that contends for the playoffs, making it every time or advancing beyond that division round isn't a deal breaker for me. I want my team to be relevant.

I've asked this type of question before but it was win the SB and not make the playoffs for the next 4 years or make the playoffs 3 or 4 of the 5 years and the former was a landslide. The ring is the thing.

I thought the same thing until we got that first ring, it wasn't life changing for me. More relief that the bridesmaid talk would stop. I am not close to a SB or bust type of fan but I altered my thinking years back to not a 16 game season but 16 1 game seasons and I enjoy it better and don't take any of it seriously.

Whirlybird, these posters that get all angry and lose it over losses are cupcakes compared to how pissed I used to get and I was an awesome person to be around. I had my priorities all messed up and let a damned game get to me.

How about a novel idea where we have a competent team with competent coaching.
The one thing about football is a good QB can hide your warts... ( Rodgers for quite a few years in GB, and Wilson now).
Good competent coaching can turn your franchise around:
Frank Reich
Sean McVay, yes I know not this year but his reputation speaks for it self.
Reid
Sean Payton, Shanahan, Bill B of course, Pete Carroll, this list goes on...

Even if we had a competent to above average coach we would be in a great situation. Play to your strengths. You have to be able to avoid losing before you learn how to win. I know it's a cliche but its true.
Avoid the 57 yd FG attempt on first drive of game... Why why why? To me that just irked me so much I was ready to toss my remote out of the window.
No need to be desperate, trust your team. That early swing in momentum has some meaning and it gave the Vikes the confidence the road team does not need. I would trust our offense against almost any defense in the league. I would protect our defense and limit them to less than 30 minutes of playing time.

This is nothing more than a simple choice: do we accept mediocrity or do we demand better? Unfortunately, our incompetent owners and FO have chosen the former and they keep throwing money at everything but the real problem to try to placate use.

I, for one, am done.

I'm there as well. 100% I never thought I'd be in this position, yet, here I am. Thanks Garrett.
I used to tell posters that losing in the hopes of winning doesn't always work but this is a wear down. Many are just tired of the same ole same ole and I am tired of watching him staring on the sideline and shoving players when they make a good play, who in the hell does that?

However, there's no assurance Garrett gets his ticket punched if they were to lose out. Booger is far too comfortable with his life and that includes a HC that understands his needs. It would take pressure from his sponsors and for all we know, they might like Garrett.

Zero, the other side of that pancake is that the type of HC we all want to come in? He's not coming to the Cowboys because Booger isn't sharing any of his spotlight. Going to get a guy who's primary job will be to make Booger comfortable, everything else is secondary.

It has a good chance of ending when Jerry turns to worm dirt.

I don't know about that. Jerry's boy has been involved in the football operations for a while now and I don't see a lot changing down the road. I was watching Jerry's interview with the media after the Minn game and all I could think is, what business does this guy have giving a post game statement?...Then I just pictured his goofy son doing the same thing in the future. If you are a fan who's been fortunate enough to see this team win some SB's, count yourself VERY lucky. If you're a younger fan who has yet to witness one, good luck...

I enjoy an over achieving team more. Even if both wind up with the same record. THAT being said, in the overall scheme I will take the talented team underachieving because of coaching. Because all that really has to happen is we get a legitimate coach in here and things can change quickly.

I agree with this to a point, but I honestly think Jerry thinks Garrett is a good coach. And I strongly believe that NO ONE is as bad a game day coach as Garrett. NO ONE. So for me, it only goes up from here no matter who we bring in.

I'm not done, but I've withdrawn my emotions.

I actually don't think Jerry even thinks that way. JG gives him the credit he wants. Thoughts stop there.

All I know is that we've won 3 playoff games in the past 20+ years. That's really sad.

You would rather root for a team that sucks? lol

Disappointment goes with the territory as a fan, as a coach, and as a player. I certainly understand the frustration, particularly since the Cowboys last great success was so far in the past, but if a person can't stand the risk of being disappointed, athletic competition is probably not the right focus for him.
The one in 15 Cowboys. Yeah I rooted for them and look what happened. We became great.

This doesn't fit your comment. You said you would rather them suck so you wont be disappointed when they lose.

Answer: Great team

A great team may have an opportunity present itself and win it all. A bad team is doomed.

I would not label this season's team as 'great'. Good? Yes. Great? No. The team must earn that distinction for itself. Not for the sake of fans, etc. They should work towards making that happen for their own sake.

I'd rather have a team like Jimmy when he was here. Win the games you're suppose to win. Play tough in games that you are suppose to lose. Dallas problem is that they are always in the middle. I'd rather go 0-16 then 8-8 or some where close every year.. 8-8 doesn't get you rebuilt nor does it get rid of a sorry coach. 0 and 16 does both,

Yes I did. But that was in content of the rest of the post. You can't just pick out the words you like. You have a habit of doing that my cowboy brother. Yes I'd rather have them suck and be good. And supposed to be good and suck
