Signs are pointing to defense, but draft day often offers up many surprises.

What would your reaction be to an offensive pick in the first round by the Cowboys

I'd likely already be disappointed that all the top D players are gone...but hey, value is value. I won't be too upset if we get a guy I think can be a long time starter at RT or TE. Of course I'd also be screaming trade down...

I think there's only a handful they MIGHT have rated highly enough to use their 1st on: TE Howard, WRs Davis, Ross, Williams, RT Ramczyk

Only elite offensive talent I can see falling to us would be a TE, particularly Howard or Njoku, in which case I'd be happy.

I'd probably be happy because it would likely mean someone really good fell to us.

Yep... I want the best player at a position of need.

WR,TE, and RT are down the list of need positions but if they are projected to be much better players then the defenders available then give me the offensive player.

It would have to be a player that can give a different dimension to the offense. To me, that's Ross and njouku. I could live with those 2, otherwise I think we have to go defense.

QB, RB, C at 28 would bother me. It wont be the case, but I'd trade down if a player at that position was way better than the rest..by our scouts assessment.

WR, RT, TE? I'd be ok.
Would prefer D, but just give me a guy who's worth taking there and can help Dallas greatly, and I'm fine.

There's maybe 3 offensive players I'd be excited about at 28...
Garret Bolles T Utah
OJ Howard TE Alabama
John Ross WR Washington

Anyone else I'd probably be extremely disappointed we neglected the extremely needy defense.

if it was a WR or RT i'm cool. A QB, RB, any o-line other than RT, i'd be annoyed but if its a TE i'd be reeeeeeeally upset. It needs to be a rule to not draft a TE until witten retires. I don't care who it is. Tired of wasting picks on them

Depends on the player. At 28, it's possible for an actual unique value to somehow fall. As much as I want the defense fixed, the game is about unique players. Otherwise, if the value is approximate, take the defender.

If it's a top flight player, I wouldn't be disappointed. The draft is about acquiring the best talent possible that fits what you do. Get me the best scheme fits and I'll worry about whether it's offense or defense later.

I'd be fine with it. Likely means they didn't force a DE selection for a lesser player. And feel confident that a comparable DB talent is available at 60.

I'd be fine with it. If the best value at 28 is WR, TE, or OL, so be it.

As long as it's not an OL, RB or QB. I'm good with any other positions if they are the clear cut best value. Davis at 28? That's incredible value. Same with Howard. Njoku is probably in the same value range as some defensive players, but I wouldn't fault them if he's higher on their board. Ross or Williams would probably be better value than whatever defensive player is left as well.

Now what would upset me is if they took a similarly graded offensive player to the defensive players left. Like taking Engram or Samuel at 28. That would have me pretty upset.

Wouldn't be surprised..

Depends on who it is and what position..

At 28 there is no sure thing and like we did with drafting Jaylon Smith..

We were practically in the second round with our first pick.

So that means we can't reach and we surely have to go defense in round 2 and maybe trade up in the second if possible.

But to go offense it would have to be a WR or top tier TE to make it work.

Not opposed to it.

DAK is going to need more weapons as the defense is still going to be awhile before the defense gets going.

That means we need more points to not lose ground.
