Whatever happened to Joseph Randle?

I see your point, but I don't believe it's the Dallas Cowboys responsibility to take care of the guy, besides the Cowboys are well known for doing more for players than any other team. It was Joseph Randles actions that ruined his future. We can debate whether it was "brain trauma" as a result of concussions all we want, but at the end of the day.. Nobody forced Randle to play football. He choose football, like many players, because he had the talent to get paid better than he ever would anywhere else. Players will gladly take the lucrative salary and wildly spend it without discipline or regard for thier future, yet thier employer is held responsible for thier health? No. It's a business and should be treated as such. The players have negotiated a players union for these matters. And I'll also note: I have a CDL license. If I go drink and drive on my off time and get arrested for DUI, lose my license, I'd surely be fired.. Do you think it's my employers responsibility to make sure I'm ok? The answer is no. It's my responsibility. Wish more people in this world would get that only you are responsible for your actions. And I'll end with..if Randle needed help and couldn't see that..well, that's when family and friends should have told him. Of course, you are who you surround yourself with.
Well, it is their responsibility if head injuries had something to do with it. But really, the way they treated him gives really bad optics to Randle, which is really unfair.

There is no point comparing a truck driver to an NFL player, especially since you don't seem to have any mental issues.

His friends and family aren't trained to identify and treat mental disorders, and he wasn't around them very much when he was on the Cowboys. So I don't know what that last sentence has to do with anything.

People with borderline mental issues can be pushed over the edge when the spotlight shines on them. I think that is what happened to Randle.

I also think that Greg Hardy had the same issue. The combination of the girl accusing him of domestic violence and playing for the Dallas Cowboys was just more than he could handle.
His issues go back before the spotlight shone on him. I vaguely remember reading a college coach talking about how strange Randal was. And, how he once jumped off a cliff into a body of water w/o checking its depth first. Everyone thought it was a crazy thing to do, but the coach basically shook he head and said, "That's just Joseph being Joseph."

It's funny that concussion complications and CTE are such widely used nowadays to explain personal issues of players/former players. It's used as a universal scapegoat.

You know, throughout history, there have been people with major mental health issues. And none of them have ever put on a football helmet.

It seems Randle had issues (or would have had issues), whether he had ever played football or not. It's a sad situation.

Lol. I remember when most on here where all over this guy when Murray left and I would post that I didn't want that piece of **** to be our lead back and I would get scrutinized for it from most on this board. Probably a decent amount replying to this post now ripping him.

I was so happy when the Cowboys drafted Randle. When they were on the clock I told my wife here he comes!!! Being from my hometown and graduating from my high school I was very excited for him to be a Cowboy. Now he is nothing by an embarrassment. Glad to say former Cowboy. He currently is in the Sedgwick County Jail about 8 miles from where I live.

His trial starts on Monday. Frankly I'm tired of him being on my TV everytime he makes the news and trust me the local news will be all over this and show the same old clips of when he was a Cowboy. His 15 minutes were up several months ago up and I am soooo ready to move on.

It's a sad story, there definitely seems to be some mental health and addiction issues there. That being said, the guy made a lot of bad decisions that led him to where he is today.

Smh somebody earlier in this post correctly acknowledged that people don't give mental health issues the due respect and just want to write people off as being "idiots" way to not disappoint

Anytime brother, anytime.

If he has a mental health issues, I gladly apologize. Just saying stealing stuff when you're rich? Boneheaded

Can probably even add in Quincy to this...

That was an excellent article. Just my opinion but I doubt he will get the psychiatric help he requires behind bars. At the same time, I believe he's in the best place possible because he doesn't have any choice but to receive any form or level of help that's available for him. Randle has a true dilemma confronting him and his future mental health.

Crazy.. Remember when Marion Barber went cray cray? Or I remember reading "Boys will be Boys" and they had a thing on Clayton Holmes. How he hit rock bottom. Riding his bicycle around the projects after riding high with the Cowboys in the 90s.

I just hope we hear a story later on in the years that he turned his life around and made something of himself. He's still young. He does sound screwed up

Randle was a better runner than McFadden, quicker and shiftier which enabled him to break off some nice runs but he would run out of gas.
