The FS out of Miami has been in the top 10-15 of this year's draft all season. Now, more & more, when I look at mock drafts, I see him possibly dropping all the way down to us at #22! Don't get me wrong. I would love to have this guy in our secondary, and would even trade up to get him, but I don't understand how he can be falling when there hasn't even been a Combine yet.

Anyone know anything substantial, or is this all conjecture?

well i think it has to do with him being a JR and some people stock rising after the Senior Bowl and ALl star games after the combine he stock should go back up. I would be happy if we picked him up that would mean no more Ken Hamlin hell i want us to pick up Calasis and Tavares also

I think part of the reason why his stock's dropping is because this is such a strong draft for CBs. If a team plans on upgrading their secondary, they'll probably choose a CB over a safety even if the latter is the bigger need.

If he is there at #22 would any of you take him?

The assistant coaches at Miami who also coached Ed Reed & Sean Taylor said that Phillips is smarter & better than either one. Since one player made DPOY in the NFL, & the other was probably on his way there, what would you do?

I just might, assuming Hamlin is gone, but I think we've got greater needs.

Call me cynical, but these statements would mean a lot more if it came from coaches or scouts not affiliated w/ Phillips or the Miami program.

I doubt we take him unless they are sold on moving Hamlin to SS after this season is over, seeing as how they just franchised him today to try and get the long term deal done with him.

We're going CB and WR/RB in the first round this year, most likely. Next year, probably, before we seriously address any safety needs.
