It's these stupid coaches (Schottenheimer and his group). They absolutely suck. Can't even coach up these players. The previous bunch of coaches the past 3 years did much better (aside from Mike Nolan and Mike Solari).

All things being equal he’s running the # 1 or close to it offense in the NFL . The coach has no defense and ST in Detroit was pathetic .

At the end of the season I get rid of the entire defensive staff and ST coach . And if a Jonathan Gannon gets fired in Arizona see if he’s interested in building back his resume as Dallas DC or Al Harris in Chicago .

You're happier with a worse record and already out of the playoffs by the beginning of December? With a coaching staff full of outsmarted coaches who can't built up these players or make the correct decisions?

It’s not an either or situation. A loss on the road in Detroit doesn’t erase everything positive that is happening.

I had only predicted six wins this season. The main thing i wanted to see was how the coaching staff came together and how our draft class looked this year.

I feel positive about both.

As to coaching, I *like* Schottenheimer. I think he’s a genuine person and the team responds to him. The three week span of wins, processing the loss of Marshawn, is not something I think just any coach could do.

In any event, Jerry is not going to fire him.

It is curious.

Last year it was reported he was doing really well in camp. IIRC there were even some reports that he was very intelligent and was helping some players get lined up correctly.

His draft write ups also said he was very intelligent player, good team mate and plays hard.

Sometimes he would come across as being a little too much of hair on fired guy that he would miss some plays.

He had not looked as good in the limited snaps I have seen.

I have to wonder if it is him or if it is the change in system.

This goes back to Jerry. Liafau was a Zimmer pet and Jerry wanted to reward him with a player he loved. Like a lot of us said at the time, a good running back could have been taken with that pick.

Or, Liafau isn't this bad and Eberflus just doesn't like him for some reason. Which also goes back to Jerry since he and his fat son are the ones who hired Eberflus.

That sounds like a solid plan. The shame is that if they had just had an average DEFENSE this year they really could have surprised the league.
If I was a betting man, way back when - Id have put my money on Kellen Moore being our HC and Al Harris being our DC this year. Good thing I don't bet, lol.
Those were two easy Jerry type hires. Guys he was already very familiar with. I didn't see the Eberflus hire coming. What a complete disaster thats turned out to be.

He looked good as a rookie. Was making plays and progressing into a good LB. Zim left and Flus came in and now he is a completely different player. Can't get on the field and looks bad when he does. He looked better at ND than he does with us this year.

Here you go. Easy to understand who was truly to blame. It was clearly on the coaching staff.

So to me you respond attacking my "the coaches sucked" comment, but to BP you reply blaming it on the bad coaching scheme. So which is it, or are you just attacking me for being correct?

What I came in here to say.

We drafted Liufau because Zimmer. Like we drafted Nahshon for Quinn. Marist should not have been picked where he was but he was a pet cat. Zimmer then used the player the way he envisioned, which is why Liufau looked less bad last year.

Eberflus won't play him. Maybe that's because the player really does suck outside of Zimmer's scheme, or maybe because Eberflus is just a stubborn ******* who refuses to adjust his scheme to the players on his roster. Or maybe it's a bit of both. In either scenario, bad drafting by the GMs to pick a player for the coach of the moment when no coach is permanent.

I'd bet a better DC could get more out of him. Because a better DC also got more out of Bland, Fowler, Osa, Diggs, Wilson, Sam, Overshown etc.
