...on obvious passing downs?

When it's 3rd and long, wouldn't an extra DB help us match up against the TE? I know Bobby Carpenter made a nice play at the end of the game, but I'd rather see someone quicker covering the TE/RB/etc on obvious passing downs.

Bigger and stronger than a DB. He is pretty good in coverage anyhow. Why put a smaller DB in?

I agree. I think that definately one spot they have to look to upgrade next year. Hopefully one of the guys we drated this year will step up and take that spot away. I might keep BC around if he'll play for the league minimum but any more than that and he can move on.

Great question! Regardless of his size, Barbie is extremely soft at the point of attack. That said, you could probably be just as successful or more in a dime package. I'm looking forward to Jason Williams coming into his own and taking the position from Barbie next year.

Carpenter played fine...you don't expect him to stop a TE like Celek by himself, nor do you expect their LB to cover Witten.

You have to have a LB in the game to take on blocks and keep the running game under control...besides, who else would you bring in? Another CB...that would also be a mismatch on Celek via size.

We took away their WRs and chose to allow Celek his catches knowing he wasn't going to run the distance for a TD.

Seems to me the defense was great the last two weeks, and Carpenter is part of that defense.

Not as much fun bagging on a dime back. 180 pound guys are more likely to try and avoid contact.

Carpenter played like crap - he couldn't pressure and he couldn't cover - (other than one play). He will be game planned by Philly next week. They should sit him like Roy Williams - 2 of our weakest players that deserve to be replaced by rookies as we enter the playoffs.

I'd like to see Ball on Celek rather than Barbie. I bet if Watkins is able to come back this week, we'll experiment with him matching up with the tight end. Watkins was supposed to "attempt" to cover gates but got hurt on the opening kickoff.

And each cost us a first round pick.
