RB out of Auburn.

Just don't see much of his name tossed around. I know I know not first round material but also in many mock drafts that go beyond the first round or just in general draft talk you don't see his name mentioned.

Did something happen or is there some major knocks on the guy?

Last year he was very hot. This past season, he was injured so he's kind of slipped a bit. I like Irons but I also see him as a smaller version of Jones. He's just a bit over 200 lbs, he's not exceptionally fast, he's adequate in his ability to pick up blocks in the passing game. I actually like this about him but he can get overwhelmed by bigger pass rushers. He catches the ball OK but he's not real experienced in the pro passing game. I don't think he has very good tackle breaking ability. He's kinda straight line IMO. I just think we have more in JJ right now then we would have in Irons if we took him. Only my opinion BP.

I really like both the Irons. Kenny is very explosive when healthy and was very impressive at the senior bowl from what I read. Very strong. Runs a lot like MB3 but with more speed. I will be surprised if he makes it out of the 2nd rd.. but if he falls to us in the 3rd.. GREAT value pick imho.

Nothing's wrong with him, it's just that he's too small to be an everydown back.

I like him alot,he was a little beat up last year. I dont see him as a MB type,he is a slasher, who can run hard. He can cut on a dime,my only concern would be his durability,he has a swagger about him as well, almost reminds me of Cadillac Williams

ABQ, I completely disagree with your assesment of Irons, especially camparisons to J.J.

He is the anti-J.J. IMO.

My biggest concern with J.J. is that he doesn't display that elusiveness, wiggle, slipperyness or vision that great backs have. He rarely makes the first guy miss or squirts through the pile.

Kenny Irons is one of my absolute favorite players in this draft, in in fact I have stated many times that he is my first choice for us, I liken him to a Portis, both guys when you watched them in college, always seemed to be running through & around defenders, ultru productve.

For some reason both guys were kind of afterthoughts, or discounted as first round players, largely due to size/durabilty issues as well as not having any individual eye popping measurable.

Like Portis, when I watch Irons I see a baller, a big time runner who always seems to be squirting through defenses. Irons best traights IMO are J.J.'s weakneses.

Irons has rare vision, great elusiveness and that uncanny nack for making the first defender miss. He runs hard like Barber on every play. He always seems to get stronger by the carry, he is the kind of back you can give the ball to eight times in a row.

Irons is also a great athlete, he has very good quickness and top end speed. I think he very well could be every bit as good as Ronny Brown or Caddilac, if he stays healthy.

Like Portis, I think the reason he slips to the second, and possibly the third are durabilty and concerns over his ability to be an every down back. Like Portis I think he will prove to be a steal, and I would love to have him. He would be an Ideal guy to pair with Barber IMO.

I think we should draft him regardless of if we trade J.J. or not, I think he is a better back than J.J., if J.J. busts out this year, then we have a plethora of wealth at RB and could trade one. If J.J. continues to underachieve, then we have a guy ready to take over.

I think he will be one of the best values in this draft, I like him as much as any back other than Peterson, and we could get him with a second or third.

Don't see it at all. Also, JJ is a guy who always makes the first guy miss. The only problem, IMO, with Jones is that he doesn't break tackles. I don't really like Irons nearly as much as you. I just don't think he has a lot of ellusive qualities. He runs hard when he sees a seam but he doesn't have great balance IMO. JMO. Clearly, you like him much better then I.

He really runs hard, but isn't he a little small? I may be totally wrong about that. I liked the guy in college.

I don't know how you could say J.J. is a guy who always makes the first guy miss?

Anybody else agree with this assesmant?

Almost every draft/Scouting guide out there states that Irons has great elusiveness and vision. watched him alot, and if nothing else he is elusive IMO, it's his best atribute.

Although you don't see it at all, appearantly many others see it quite clearly.

Maybe you have a different definition of elusiveness, because when it comes to J.J. always making the first guy miss, I don't see it at all.

No. Not since we stopped running draw plays against the league's worst run defenses.

He's not sexy in terms of skill or size. I liken him to MBIII when he came out of Minn...all he did was produce, but he did not do it with alot of pizzaz. Guys like Henry from AZ are the flavor of the month because they did well at the combine, etc.
