Maybe he is already asking for that coin and the FO wants to make sure he can have another great season?

This statement is the issue:

Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald are at about 16M per season and the #3 guy Wallace is at about 12M. The Cowboys are probably fine paying Dez around 12M but not 16M.

I really don't get it, if he has a ridiculous season the amount just goes up. Getting it done now is the way to go.

The team is actively trying to sign Dez Bryant to a contract extension.

Dallas has numbers they like and Dez and his rep have numbers they like.

The Cowboys are fine with paying Dez big money, but they want to do it in a way that protects them as much as possible.

Dez and his rep want as much up front and guaranteed money as possible.
