1) pressure mcnabb with surprise blitzes on 1st down
2) if he plays, man up brian westbrook with safety help on all plays
3) Blitzing on every 3rd down and let t-new and a-hen do thier magic, hopefully mcnabb makes mistakes

if we blitz more often with westbrook in , he will have to stay in and block unless a screen is called then were screwed.

thoughts?

only if it's 1, controlled, or 2 we get to him. choice 3 is that he is flushed out of the pocket. having big, fat jason ferguson chasing down mcnabb is not what i want to see

simple...1st and second down...send ware and ellis from the outside..with 1 otherblitzing LB up the middle

3rd down same thing...but add Roy williams in the mix of blitzing...and have arron glenn in to help with coverage

so have Newman,Henry,Glenn,Watkins, and another LB do thier thing in the passing game

or i think we should try sum over loading blitz's like....overload the left side...and force mcnabb to scramble right..n have ware contain...its harder for him to throw while running to the right then it is to the left

Yes, it is simple - and it would be simple for the Eagles to figure it out as well.

So simple, in fact, that it would take the Eagles roughly 4 plays to figure it out and exploit it

You don't want to overblitz McNabb. His WCO, get the ball out quickly on slants will start to bite us and our DBs, regardless of how amazing they are. It would be best if we can pressure him with 4-5 guys.

Key to this game is if Ferguson can appropriately push the pocket back and not give McNabb any comfort in moving forward if he needs to. Their WRs aren't going to burn us.

But too much blitzing will hurt us. I am still dumbfounded as to why Cowboy fans have underrated McNabb for so long, when he is clearly the best QB in the division still.

no, I don't think blitzing is the answer because McFlabby will be able to run all day and they will take that. We have to play discinplined defense like we did against the Titans and make sure their WRs don't get open. The key for them is westbrook and LJ Smith in this game. if our safties and LBs can deal with those two we can contain them.

offensively we need to attack them down field even if it doesn't work and keep them on their heels.

I disagree.

That is inviting McNabb to improvise and run and that is where he has beaten us in the past. Think the 15 second scramble and bomb to Fred Ex.

:bang2:

We beat Young by containment and forcing him to beat us throwing the ball. We need to continue that this week. Contrary to sometimes popular opinion, you can generate sacks without blitzing.

Now, I'm not saying don't blitz. We absolutely have to. Don't make it a focus though. That would mean big plays and momentum on their side in their house. Bad mixture.

Beat them at the Line of Scrimmage and in the field position battles and our odds of winning go way up. Give them opportunities for big plays and those odds come back to the center or below ground level.

Look specifically at how we played Young and Nawlins played Vick. That works. That's a game plan that is proven.

That was more the product of a slow defense that couldnt pursue a sloth than over blitzing

i dont mean for them to blitz all the time but we are talking about the cowboys here, i have only seen them blitz 5 or six times this season so far. we need to play some 4-3 a little so some dt can fall back and play zone to stop mcnabb from running for it.

Hate to tell you that you're wrong, but you are. That was NOT a slow defense by any wild stretch.

McNabb simply made us pay dearly for that one.

We just beat a mobile QB with containment from a 3-4 scheme. What part of that is not sinking in?

No DT in the entire NFL is going to prevent McNabb from running. In fact a LB is a much better choice. More LBs in a 3-4. Is this adding up yet? Easy math.

I always thought the best way to beat the Eagles or anyone else was to score more points...

The book on Philly, IMO, is simple. It is the same as it's always been these past few years.

Contain McNabb. Make him beat you from the pocket. I have always felt as if McNabb is at his best when he is able to break containment and run or pass down field at his discression. If you make him stay in the pocket, he will make a mistake IMO. He will throw a pick. I am not impressed with the running game from Philly right now so I think we have a good opportunity to employee a scheme that can be succesful. Just depends on how disciplined our young Defense can be. Packers had some success pressuring McNabb but they lost contain too many times. There WRs don't really scare me at all but LJ is another matter. Our LBs have to play very well against him or he can be a guy who causes problems for us. Offensively, we just have to sustain drives. I don't see them being able to stop us, per say. We should be able to move the ball effectively but we can't have Turn Overs. We have to play good football, that means no stupid drive killing penalties. We have to score when we get the opportunities. Doesn't have to be TDs but we definatly have to be able to make the damn FGs. If we can sustain drives, that's going to put a huge amount of pressure on McNabb to make plays. Limit his ability to make plays by limiting the offensive opportunities and we can win this game comfortably IMO. For Philly, I think there game plan is to hit Bledsoe often and early IMO. To me, this is really the only change they have. If they can get early pressure, Bledsoe will fold IMO. They have to force Turn Overs and penalties. I just don't think they can stop our offense any other way.
