He won't get that long of a deal or anywhere close to the money you seem to think he wants. Also concerning his current team and Zimmer, his old coach, have no interest in him.

Cincy does want him. He turned down a contract from them. He wants a 4 year deal and no one wants to give him that.

Lol.. Signing Nelson to a 2 year contract wouldn't stop us from drafting those guys.. As I said you give him most of his guarantees the first year, restructure Carr, cut church if he sucks, you cut him after one year and hardly take a cap hit..this is what the ravens did with Weddle..

So you want to drastically overpay for a guy who just had a career year at age 32? No thanks.

For 2 years which can actually be a 1 year deal yes.. Sorry we're already overpaying for one saftey, that saftey is useless, this guy can improve our secondary

Exactly.. Look the guy wants to get paid.. 2 year deal front load the contract he sucks move on from him next year.. Restructure Carr, release Church there you go.. Have him and Jones as our safteys our secondary would be very solid.. And this move doesn't impact the draft .

We dont have the cap space to front load a 2 year deal worth 9 million per

Nope. I've been on the Ramsey and Jones as our safeties of the future train for quite some time. No reason to spend big on an aging veteran who would just prove to be a progress stopper.

Who's progress is he stopping? Lol church's?? He can play both safety positions

Please try and pay attention. I am hoping we draft Ramsey and pair him with Jones at safety. He'd be progress stopping Jones or Ramsey.

Ok and if we don't draft Ramsey? If anything they both would benefit from having Nelson there..

If we. Don't draft Ramsey I don't know what the team does.

I know I'll cry.

Id love to have Ramsey too.. I by no means wants us to give Nelson a 4 year deal give him a 2 year deal( which basically can be 1 year deal) if it doesn't work out ..dueces.. Low risk high reward

Sure. A modest 2 year deal is fine. 9m per I don't classify as low risk.

For a top notch saftey it is. I'm not saying guarantee the whole thing that's what the first year is for...if it doesn't work out. He's gone, no cap implications. That's the only way I can see him coming here. He would instantly upgrade our saftey position. Look at it this way we're paying church almost half of that and he was one of the worse safety's in the league last year

We're at a point now with the draft a month away where most teams are going to stick with what they have until after the draft unless they can sign free agents to cut-friendly contracts.

It's almost as if you have Google at your disposal and can look this stuff up without starting a thread! :-O

One is a #1 corner, the other is a 32 year old FS. He makes plays? Yeah, on a defense where he's surrounded by talent.

Carr isn't a #1 CB.

He's paid like one but he doesn't play like one.

Nelson might not be great but he's an upgrade on any safety we have on the roster other than possibly Jones. But $18MM over two years is way too much. It would have to depend on guaranteed money.

Of course that assumes:

1) The Cowboys like Ramsey at S. It's been said they might like him at CB.
2) The Cowboys even think he can play SS opposite Jones.
3) The Cowboys want to turn two key defensive positions over to a rookie and 2nd year player
4) Ramsey is even there at the 4th pick.

Nelson would be a very smart addition if the price is right. He was very good in 2014 as well, not just 2015. It will be interesting to see if he is floating out there after the draft.
