What's with this feigned ignorance about the PI call?

I think the refs let both teams play. There were calls on each side that usually get called. Bottom line. Giants lost that game because of the arrogance of Coughlin and Manning. Run the ball, kill the clock, take three points. Throwing on that down was just stupid.

The hold on the shoulder that takes the receiver off stride and prevents him from jumping for the ball was well executed, but it is still there for all to see. They played a great angle on it last night (the one you're not seeing on all the talk shows) and yet Collinsworth acted like it was insignificant. I know the media loves to generate conflict and controversy but c'mon now,,,

Because they only showed the clip when they were going for the ball. PI happened before that.

Thought the refs missed the one earlier in the game when Dez was grabbed in the endzone. You get some right in the game and you get some wrong. Usually balances out.

Prince got away with that one. Agreed

this board would have been in full meltdown if that was Carr on ODB

This is the absolute truth. However, it was something of a makeup for some really bad calls against us in the first half. Still, doesn't excuse the fact that PI is called terribly and inconsistently by NFL officials

I could cover a WR if I was allowed to do that.

lol, you would have blown chunks all over the turf by the end of the 1st quarter and been in the locker room for the rest of the game getting an I.V. after the doctors took 30 minutes to talk you into letting them stick the needle in by promising you a Tootsie Pop and a Ninja Turtles bandaid for your boo-boo afterwards. :D

Let's put it this way, if the situation were reversed, and the Giants got that call, this board would lose its collective mind. Now, it balanced out with Dez getting mugged in the first half, so there's that.

He would've had some good company because Dez would be sitting right next to him..

Nobody's arguing with that. If there was a grab, sure, it was PI. But there was no grab. You guys are seeing what you want to see.

The local NBC news showed an angle that I didn't see during the game. It was an obvious hold with that camera angle.

I don't think it should have been pass interference either. It was a ticky tack call to me. But we'll take it. :)
It was a make up called for the obvious PI on Dez that prevented him from high poiting the ball in the endzone.

if THAT play with TWill was PI, then there is no doubt that the play with Dez in the endzone should have been PI as well.

Was it a make-up call? Maybe. Or at least the refs were more aware and keen to make a close call if it came up again.

Well they got away with a blatant PI on the first drive on Dez and not a word from Turkey Neck.

He said a little but he was far less offended at that no call than the call on ROdgers Cromartie.

I felt it was a crap call both times, and I was disappointed that Williams didn't make a better effort.

Bob Papa (Giants radio guy and pretty much a homer) made a good point this morning. He said that while that PI was questionable, and certainly unusual given the way the refs were calling the game, the Giants defenders were mugging the Cowboys receivers all night and he thought they should have had a lot more PI calls on other plays.

Here is the list of actions that are deemed to be an automatic PI --

(a) Contact by a player who is not playing the ball that restricts the opponent’s opportunity to make the catch.
(b) Playing through the back of an opponent in an attempt to make a play on the ball.
So, jumping on a player's back -- even if you're trying to make a play on the ball -- is pass interference. Got it.

I thought it was an awful call in our favor.

And I hate those, because playing CB in the NFL is so difficult as it is. When you make a great play, and instead it's turned into a disastrous one because of an official's interpretation, that just stinks.

I agree, ticky tacky at best. I know if our DB was called on a play like that I would have PO'ed
