Thought I'd get a "real deal" perspective from opponent fans about Montae Reagor.

Why am I asking Cowboy fan when I know how you feel about the Eagles ...well that's hard to explain. While I don't care a lot about a lot of Cowboy fans, ...but the Cowboy fans I do care about ...I care about a lot!

So it's worth sithing through to get to information.

That said ...
The Eagles turned their attention to defense Tuesday as they welcomed free-agent defensive tackle Montae Reagor to the NovaCare Complex. Reagor met with the team on Tuesday amid reports that the Eagles have agreed to terms on a three-year deal.

However, there is no official word on the prospect of signing Reagor. He will meet the media late Wednesday morning.

Take it back..... looking at just stats he is Michael Myers.

6"3 285 16 sacks in 9 seasons.

He's below average and undersized.

Can't recall him when I think of the Cowboys, Colts game this year.

He fits the Eagles scheme. He can be moved around on the line playing tackle and some end. He is not a blockbuster, big name guy, but he can fit with what Jim Johnson likes to do.

I just DO NOT see him as a difference maker, however, he will be solid and be good leader in the locker room--which is important.

Report: Reagor signs with Eagles

phillyBurbs.com

Defensive tackle Montae Reagor, released by the Indianapolis Colts in a salary cap move earlier this month, has signed with the Eagles according to a report on ESPN.com early this morning.
According to the report, Reagor, 6-2 and 280 pounds, visited the Eagles on Tuesday and apparently passed a physical. He is expected to sign a three-year, $8.3 million contract.

The Colts cut Reagor, who missed most of the 2006 season after an automobile accident in October, on March 2 to avoid paying him a $1 million bonus and to save $3.9 million against their 2007 salary cap.

He's a good player, definitely has some ability. Could be good for the Eagles (good scheme, coach) and then crummy on a crummy defense. So you can't "worry" about a team signing a guy like that because it happens, but hopefully the interior OL on Dallas can handle him.

It's a good move.

Unfortunately, the Eagles are actually run very well. Too bad they aren't terribly mismanaged like the Skins.

He's a good penetrating DT with a quick first step. There's more to this move that meets the eye.

He's a Darwin Walker clone for the most part. Good pass rusher, not so great against the run. He'll probably be used on passing downs. What's that mean for the existing 5 DT's though? Philly likes Patterson, Bunkley, Ramsey, Walker. Does this mean they trade Rayburn? Walker? I have a feeling 1 of those guys are gone. I doubt you keep 6 tackles.

He's right small for a DT, but might work in the Iggles' scheme... I do hope you're not looking for a lot of pass rush from him, his season best is 5.5, and he has 16 sacks in 92 games... doesn't rack up a lot of tackles either, his 2 best years were 04 and 05, when he had 77 tackles in 29 games... for his career, he's had 162 tackles in 92 games... he's not what you call a big play machine, with 4 fumbles forced and 7 fumbles recovered in those 92 games... he's also had 1 int, but we don't really look for ints from the DTs, do we?? LOL...

You might also want to consider that the Colts haven't exactly been a powerhouse defense these last 4 years...

I think he'd work best in a DT rotation... I think at 285 pounds, he might wear down if he has to take too many snaps... but he has some quickness, might be good for the odd play or two...

I wouldn't look for him to be makin' too many trips to Hawaii, though...

You seem to have some above average football savvy.

This guy, if healthy (and he did pass a rigorous physical) needs to add penetration to OLs.

I believe Rayburn and Walker may be trade fodder.

The Eagles must look to solidify the LB position ...Trotter needs help.

Thanks Silverbear. That's pretty straight shooting.

That 285 pounds in a rotation is enough to wear down the average OL in a rotational defensive system

He'll fit in well in Johnson's 1 gap system as a rotational player. The Eagles got him for a good price. But know that Dungy did everything in his power to upgrade over him during his time in Indianapolis (Booger McFarland and Corey Simon trades)

I actually think Reagor is a great fit for Philly. Philly doesn't need a superstar on their line since they already have The Freak. Nice pickup.
