When do we start to worry about our DB's?

Ok, most of us are worried right now, but what is the deal? Yes, Newman is hurt again with another groin pull, but what is up with Jenkins? A stinger is keeping him out this long?

Neither player has had any time in camp, and specifically to learn Rob's defense. It's just crazy to me that they are both going to come in week one and hold up there end of the bargain! This isn't an over reaction thread with the opener still weeks away, but these guys need the work. If they don't come back to 2009 form we can kiss a good season goodbye.

Ok, that feels better..I got that off my chest. I can tell you one thing, left guard, RDE, or our third WR doesn't even concern me like our two starting DB's do right now.

Not worried, I know Jenkins and Newman will be the starters and their injury are minor. Right now more interested in how some of these other young guys who are playing will do at CB.

Jenkins would have probably played the next week during the regular season, they are just being overly cautious with all these injuries since it's the off season.

I didn't expect Newman to make it through the regular season without injury, I was pretty bummed though that it happened so early and that it was the same ole groin injury that's probably going to linger all year.

There is reason for worry and excitement IMO. No need to limit ones self by only allowing one or the other.

I'm worried about Newman's constant struggle with injuries. I'm worried about Jenkin's ability to regain his 2009 form. I'm worried about depth at CB and Safety.

I'm excited that Newman and Jenkins MAY return to their old selves. I'm excited that we signed two veteran safeties to bolster the secondary. I'm excited that a few of our young guys have shown some promise.

Makes no sense to me to lean heavily to one side (as these things usually turn into on CZ..."sides") or the other....our emotions have no bearing whatsoever on the eventual outcome. Why not let it ride and see what unfolds?

I agree that it is nice to see these young guys get reps (thank you Montrae Fat Albert Holland), I still am having an issue with Jenkins being out this long. This guy lost his confidence, and has actaully lost it a couple of times. He need's the work bad. It's just hard for me to imagine that both of these guys will come in week 1 and will have to cover Santonio and Mason, with NO practice.

now.....right now.......now...right now

I'm not worried, T-New will be back and Mike Jenkins will be back as well, sooner rather than later for Jenkins. Scandrick has improved. And Alan Ball and Josh Thomas just look solid right now. Especially for 4th and 5th guys.

We have two more preseason games after SD and the 3rd preseason game is where Jenkins will get his most playing time anyways

Next year at draft time ...

For now you go with what you got or can pick up off the street. Then pray that RR can make em play.

Whats your prediction for passing yards week 1?

Im guessing :
Santionio Holmes: 6 Rec 200+ Yards 2 TD
Burress: 5 Rec 75 yards 1 TD
Keller: 3 Rec 50 Yards

I would say around last year sometime.

As soon as we drafted a 25 year old TNew at the time. Just found it weird that noone wanted a 30 year old CB, yet we drafted someone that high with such a short NFL lifespan.

Kinda funny that Nnamdi and TNew were in the same 2003 draft.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but yeah we have plenty of weaknesses on D to worry about really. Just hope Ryan can be Merlin the magician.
